What did you do with your Power Trac today?

Deck coming along nicely. Working on Hot Tub area. Had some extra stone and PT1460 is doing what it does best-moving material. Can't complain about working in 100 degree heat if I am getting ready for fall/winter to get into 100 degree water. haha

What did you do with your Power Trac today?

Appreciate the compliment on the work. I do have the butyl tape on the ledger board and up the house flashing. When the house was built I first ran very wide flashing across the back of the house before the deck ledger/siding was installed. I knew I was going to build the deck later and having...

Chaffing hose guard at center pivot, big problems if unattended?

My machine is 15 years old with about 1000 hours and doesn't seem to have any issues at this joint. Some grease has run down on that blue sleeve material and I just leave it to lube that area. I also try not to fully articulate and pinch the joint if I can avoid it.

What did you do with your Power Trac today?

The concrete mixer was fantastic and I used the PT to keep the bags close so I wouldn't have to carry them too far. The concrete mixer is called a Mudmixer. They have a website. Very nice for pouring footings!! Rented it for 100 bucks. It was definitely worth it. Regarding my black wheels, I...

    A question about the PT1460

Its your lucky day porkchop! I have the day off and I am starting my deck build project. Real world results from a 15 year old machine (PT1460). First photo is a log I cut to make room for my orchard area (14 feet long and 25 inch in diameter) Second photo is an actual weighted test. I...

What do you guy think about using a Rut Terminator XP mulcher on a PT1460?

I think the sp500 forestry mulcher design is a better for the bigger trees (coming down from the top) than the rut terminator brush cutter design? Guess it would depend on if you think trees will be slowing you down or if the heavy brush will be slowing you down?

    Steering cylindar leaking oil

I am happy to report a WIN! I sent the steering cylindar back to PT. A week later it is back and installed. I just put the cylindar back on and then the hoses back on. Slowly brought the tractor up to speed. No priming of cylindar was required. Slowly started turning the tractor little by little...

    Stump Cutter Teeth

Reached the limit of my capabilities. Terry at PT told me to get a chisel in the gap and I put a bottle jack on the end with a chain per ponytugs excellent sugesstion. Disc still not off. I asked Terry if there was an additional retainer of some sort that I was missing and he didn't think so...

    425 slowing on hills

I had a similar issue on my 1460. Felt like bogging down when going up hill/needing power. Ended up being dirty fuel filter and the second time dirty filter and bad fuel pump. Couldn't get power when needed cause it was intermittently starving for fuel. Easy place to start is fuel filter/lines.

    Stump Cutter Teeth

Always impressed with your creativity and skills, woodland! I am with you and I believe all the stump grinder wheels from PT should come with user serviceable replaceable teeth like you have created for yourself. Every other stump grinder has user replaceable teeth of some sort. Will head in...

    Stump Cutter Teeth

TU for the assistance. It is regular lefty, loosie thread for those tackling this in the future. Have been PB blasting and trying for a few days. Got more aggressive today. Bought a larger wrench and got the nut off. Dont have a torch yet. But it's only a partial win. The blade is on a shaft...

    Stump Cutter Teeth

Getting my stump grinder ready for operation. Most of the carbide inserts on the teeth are missing. Wondering how people are getting these brazed on carbide insert tips replaced? Most teeth on new stump grinders are held in by bolted on carriers and are user replaceable. Has anyone retrofitted...

    Steering cylindar leaking oil

This is an original PT cylindar. They are the same on both sides. They sit low on the PT frame and I was actually surprised it wasn't more damaged. I was also surprised to see that the holes on my frame that this cylindar attaches to were not egged out. I am trying to consistently lube things so...

    Steering cylindar leaking oil

Took the steering cylindar off today. Started by pressure washing then brake cleaner on fittings. That combo worked very well to get all the grease, debris, etc off the connection areas. Then disconnected hydraulic lines. Thought hydraulic fluid was going to siphon out since they are located...

    Steering cylindar leaking oil

First cylindar issue for me. What has been a slow drip has developed into a stream of oil. Coming from inside--the joint between the rod and the outer housing. Looks like I will have to take it off and send it to PT for repair. I know PT makes there own cylindars so I don't trust a local place...

    Hydraulic Circuits Technical Discussion

Found some hydraulic diagrams of an 1850. TU woodlandfarms. There are 2 pumps on the 1850 and on my 1460. 1)Variable volume pump and 2) pto pump. Looking at the first pdf diagram below (hydro 5) it seems the wheel circuit fluid is drawn from the tank, through the main filter to the variable...

pt1430 wont go forward or backward basically stuck in front yard

Spring hollows upgrades as posted above by ponytug are outstanding. I am surprised at the number of metal filings in the photo of the magnet system? Reminds me again how little I know about my 1460. When u posted about filtering the fluid I didn't realize that the main filter doesn't filter...

    Electric Grease Gun-love it

Have Ryobi tools and just got the battery operated grease gun. Did maintenence on the 1460 and what a joy it was! All lubed in no time at all. Was kinda fun actually. PT 1460/2460 Utility Grapple trade for/towards Mower/Bush Hog/Power Rake/?

Welcome to the PT1460 club! You and m5040 are the only others on here who have posted about the 1460 model. Mine continues to run strong! Change tire PT1460

All is well. Thnks for the support as fit of the rim over the center hub is actually very tight and I couldn't tell if the rim was behind the center hub or just very close to it. Change tire PT1460

Well I did it to myself. Forgot to air up this tire (which has a slow leak) and went out to clear some brush for the burn pile. Tire popped off the rim bead due to no pressure. I am wondering if I can get the rim/tire off the tractor by just removing the 6 outer bolts or if I need to get that...

House project is complete. Selling my PT 1460?

Moss Road: Slopes are not steep here. Very gentle rolling from front to back. Not enough to worry about any power loss due to hill climbing if that is what you are getting at? Pony: Agreed, I like the compact/organized storage the trailer provides. Hadn't thought about a trade in, good idea, TU.

House project is complete. Selling my PT 1460?

To explain further, I am considering selling because the area I need to maintain now that the house is built is not very large--maybe 1.5 acres. All the heavy lifting has literally been done by the big PT1460. Now I need to do work like tilling small garden, build fencing, brushwork, mowing...

    Flat Face couplers

When I was building up the forklift/add a grapple attachment, my decision process on the hydraulic fittings was to get stuff from a place that was local so if I had any problems I could have hoses made/repaired same day if needed. Went with fittings they had in stock (regular style) and got a...

    PT-425 Aux circuit QCs

Hmm, I use the same process as Ponytug on my 1460 for my 4 in 1 bucket? If not, I have residual line pressure and I cannot get the fittings to connect. Seems to help to have the bucket really flat and level when dropping/connecting.

Cleaning out and reusing some old concrete fence post foundations?

Just a suggestion on the poles for the ground contact. The pole barn building companies have built up laminated posts that I think are the real deal on the ground contact preservative.. You might find some through them?

Cleaning out and reusing some old concrete fence post foundations?

I have had some success boring out a center hole and then adding some charcoal briquets into the hole. The charcoal kept the center burning and the wood burned itself out from the center. Once cleaned out I suggest you look into the expanding foam method of setting the new posts. The expanding...
