How long does 15 take you with 72"? I haven't seen a 4cyl turbo diesel zero turn, care to share some pictures? I have my kubota zd21 with 3cyl diesel and 60" deck and 2 acres takes me a solid half hour.

    Mowing acreage.

It depends how smooth the ground is. It's a lot to do with a 60" zero turn or even a 72". I would want to be in my tractor, but it depends on the shape of hte field. If you can make long strait passes, 3pt finish mower, if there's a lot of stuff to mow around, zero turn. What will you be using...

If you are concerned about wasteful spending, ev rebates are a drop in the bucket, and your concern would be more effective focusing on the larger issues. ICE vehicles receive plenty of subsidies as well, and have for decades. They're just not direct to the consumer. For the record, I am...

Even with domestic production, it's a global market. If the terrorists stop selling oil, we'll just sell it to the highest bidder, and we won't get it or get it at a much higher rate.

What do you all do to be prepared for long term power loss?

I don't think many actually want it to collapse. I just don't think many have a whole lot of confidence in it not collapsing, at least partially. Me too. But some moron in a nissan rear ended a f250 at 100mph on the only highway here. Both directions closed, few other cars got damaged a bit. That was an hour ago. He's sitting at a dead stop and probably will be for a while.

Right, I bought a full size suv, but you can have a tesla or other ev's that are comparable for 35k that's more comparable to a civic. Just got a call from the driver, he's 2 hours away.

Cheapest I can find is a ford maverick for $27.5k, toyota corola for $23.7, honda civic for $24.1k. Everyone has their preferences, but I wouldn't own any of those. I would say cost of ownership is lower, charging, maintenance, etc. But I would say that's probably offset by a higher...

You can't get a decent anything for 25k. That ship has sailed, unfortunately. And if you want a truck, it's going to be 80k+ in a best case scenario. That's out of most people's budget. I am genuinely concerned about pickup's and off road vehicles that have battery cells on the bottom, when a puncture could be thermal run-away and a fiery death for the vehicle. Not even a puncture, but a dent or bend.

Most every ev person I talk to thinks that everything should be ev. Yes, the infrastructure is at MY house. The problem is most people are poor and do not have houses. Apartments and condo's and high rises. Do we just tell those people sorry, you are to poor to drive?
  138. F

Battery based vehicles of today and tomorrow pt 2

The problem is, the ev people think ev's can replace every vehicle on the road, and that just isn't practical with current technologies. And may points that out. I dont' think most people are opposed to ev's in general, just ev's at their current technology and infrastructure level.

Longevity of battery packs with current technology will never not be a concern. From anyone that's seen my projects, I run machines from the 1950's through the 1970's. Solar is the "big thing" these days. That doesn't include permitting or grid tie connection fee. That 26k is $4-6k in products on hte high end, they're pocketing at least 20k. Panel price has absolutely crashed, inverters aren't that expensive.

Also, with my setup, you can use the grid as well. The inverters can pull from solar, battery, or grid depending on which...
