Head gasket leak to crankcase vs cooling wouldn't be as obvious when cranking as when running. Taking pistons out to replace rings doesn't have to mean replacing them both. Skirt and or bore wear would make the difference vs say needing just rings. (stuck, worn, broken ..?) IMO these issues...

Sorry this is so long. Are the GPs wired to be on continuously, or cycled several times before/between cranking? I've had to do the latter 3-4 times to start little red in 65 degree weather after sitting less than a week. Loose lash or swarf on valves or seats can impair proper compression. A...

Convert 70's tractor to quick attach plate, use original mount?

Turns out that my 'universal' is way wide for a tractor that isn't older yet, say 8" or more too wide for OP's. Shortening the main bar would make the QA pins out of position. The red guy would need brackets welded on to pin to the arms and cylinders. You can see that it's not much wider than a...

I made two full sets of larger pins for planned use on a Allied 495 FEL. One set has the ends turned down from 1 1/4" to 1". The other set uses 1" pins and bronze bushings. If there are aliens, what will they look like?

Changing the subject again ... btw, I heard that head protection gear for amateur boxers is no longer used. By statistical analysis it was concluded that they protect the ears but do not prevent brain trauma from impacts on a 'larger target'. If you have such equipment, wear it with pride and...

If there are aliens, what will they look like?

To say that rockets need something to 'push against' is to ignore that the pressure inside a rocket motor pushes everywhere but where the exhaust comes out. Propulsion is derived because expanding gases don't go out both ends. 8th grade science class. Nobody ever said that our atmosphere and...

If there are aliens, what will they look like?

Moss, IMO as a comparison 10:1 is a ratio & hardly a par. But could it could explain the moon's ~monthly orbit being similarly compared to a stationary one of 24 hrs, and vet my inference that there's much difference in rate or distance after all? Asking for the geezled Earthling whose account...

If there are aliens, what will they look like?

Perhaps that's why it's slowly & steadily 'escaping' its orbit around us and IMO we're far from disagreeing on anything .. so far. :giggle: btw, if neither optical (see celestial navigation) or laser methods were/are precise on the distance they each will still give comparative measurements...

If there are aliens, what will they look like?

As for satellites falling to Earth when coming out of orbit vs the moon going away we have to acknowledge the many magnitudes greater the Moon is from our planet. Satellites orbit dozens of miles from us while the Moon is many thousands away. Our gravity and friction of whatever aura or aurora...

If there are aliens, what will they look like?

BX, what I meant by' decaying', (bad choice of words?) as in we'd lose the tides as the Moon drifts away without a tractor beam to compensate. Anyway not the same as a space junk 'decaying' orbit and not forever revolving around our Earth like the Sun, the stars, and our perception of all...

If there are aliens, what will they look like?

I was told in HS and at uni (if still accurate) that our Moon's orbit is decaying by roughly 1 foot per 100 years. At some point our descendants may want to 'keep' it where it is ... or not. Suppose they can harness fusion reaction, perhaps an avenue to longevity without depleting our legacy...

Film star Cary Grant is said to have kept his sanity by 'therapeutic' use of LSD. (vs 'shrooms, edibles, etc) Many cultures have availed similar substances to clear the mind and/or to focus on higher thoughts. Methane in the grotto at Delphi, smoking opium, whirling dervishes huffing hashish...

If there are aliens, what will they look like?

When someone refutes another's assertions and the subject gets changed. The circular dodge. IMO it takes a bit more to refute science as a whole than "I don't believe it." I didn't refute the ark, only asked how many species and ethnicities were on it. (crickets) I didn't refute that the...

Thanks. I just got some sticky tape. If I can find a better position I might try to weld it in place. Maybe hot glue or something. :sneaky:

This. ^^ We who got in stay in. Buuuut their are newer and similar AT&T wi-fi plans for a few more bucks that do offer something to those without fiber or cable access but decent cel coverage. btw, expect better rates than Verizon as usual. (VZW stockholder, AT&T customer 😁)

I'm ok with train-hopping hoboes and ghost trains going through the back forty on rickety rails on moonlit nights. It's those bicyclists and dog walkers that I don't trust, invading the countryside with their helmets, leashes, and cel phones in broad daylight. How can change be for the good of...
