    pt425 problem

Well today I was using pulling logs out of the woods. Heard a slight knocking noise when under pressure but when there was no load it sounded fine. ran it the rest of the afternoon and then hooked the log splitter up to it. It runs off the pto. After about 1 1/2 hrs I shut the pto off for a...

Hydraulic winch and other general PT usability questions

I think I had to drill a couple new holes in the motor mount. I needed new love joy connectors for the main pump. Also had to drill new holes in the housing hub in the rear to connect the pto. And redo the wiring on the motor to match that on the tractor. Plenty of room from front to back to...

    425 started itself

I have no idea how it came apart! It went back together just fine. Fortunately I was in a large open area when it happened. It was moving way too fast to jump off

Hydraulic winch and other general PT usability questions

Moss I put the predator in my 425 and it handles the 60" mower just fine. If you look at the specs, the predator has more torque than the kohler. I'm very impressed with it. The only drawback is the motor will smoke when trying to back up a steep slope. I'm sure I am exceeding the 20 degree...

    425 started itself

My wife wanted to help bring some firewood from the woods. She has not been on the 425 for about 8 years but said she remembered how to run it. We went through the preliminaries of running it and headed off into the woods. The wood was on a hillside and she needed to go up. I kept trying to...

When to plane rough cut lumber?

For what its worth, don't plane it till you are ready to use it. Wood tends to change color over time. If you plane it and then later start making cuts for your projects the wood color will not match. Been there done that.

What did you do with your Power Trac today?

The one with the caution tape has a water line on the bottom, layer of dirt then a gas line, another layer of dirt and then electric and internet cable. The one my son is digging is for sewage.

Well i broke it this time

Ponytug we were digging the trench in the other post. The driveway had about an 18 inch rock and gravel base so it was beating the machine up pretty good. fortunate that we had an extra tractor to finish the job. This is the second time for this to break. First time it cost 300 to fix. Not sure...

    425 60" mower motor

So I have some homemade attachments that use the motor from my mower deck. It's not that much of a issue switching the motor from one implement to another but this year im making a leaf blower and will need 2 motors so I decided to order another motor from Terry. Just opened the box and found...

    PT422 "hydroback" adjustment?

if you didn't remove it from the top of the pump, you may not need to do anything. been a few years since i replaced mine, but if i remember, you need to loosen the nut on the shaft and then rotate the black tube as needed. The wheels will stop turning when the adjustment is correct

    new starter

Well after nursing my pt425 for close to 2 years the starter finally died. Put a new one on today and wow! What a difference it made. It was about 30 degrees and I did the replacement outside. I was sure I would have trouble getting it started with it being so cold out, but not so. The...

    THROTTLE CABLE FROZE

I've been having problems with the throttle cable sticking on my 425. Last week I went to start it and this time the throttle won't budge. Tried putting oil and WD 40, but still no movement. I even tried hitting the throttle with a hammer! Still nothing. Any ideas on where to get a new one...

    Street sweeper

Last summer I bought a 4 ft. sweeper. Finally started to work on it this week. I am using the motor from my post hole digger to power it. I got the motor attached today and decided to try it out. Strapped it onto the front of the tractor. It didn't work too bad. Runs a little slower than I...

    plow modification

Used it today and it worked great. Don't think I'll go back to the plow for quite some time. Works better than the LMB. Holds more snow and no need to curl the bucket to dump the snow. I have a lot of snow to clear.

    Stress crack in wheel motor

Front wheel motor on my 425 started leaking a while back. The other day it finally blew. Oil everywhere. I took the motor off and had new seals put in. Still leaked. After closer inspection, i found a hairline crack on the face of the motor near the main seal. Is there any chance I can...
