    Knee Replacement Recovery Tips

My cane was adjustable. My therapist commented that I had it at the right height and was positioning it correctly as I walked. Just a guess on my part but something to discuss. I used plastic wrap to protect my leg so I could shower. I am not vain but I decided to use one of the over the...

    Winter Gloves

Tractor Supply had gloves on special so I worked my way through trying on different pairs for fit and comfort. I bought these three pairs. The Arctik are the most comfortable but feel pretty lightweight. I'll believe it when I "feel" it but they were not that much. It is supposed to be 21...

    Knee Replacement Recovery Tips

I will be two years out on my left knee replacement on Dec 12. I can work on my knees with good pads but I do better getting up with something handy to grab onto to help lift myself up. I had a spinal block. I don't recall how long it worked? Perhaps due to the block they had to cath me a...

    Just in time for Thanksgiving!!

I used to do a lot of solo hiking always stepping as quietly as I could in order to observe whatever wildlife. One day when I got under a stand of small fur trees all of a sudden all heck broke loose. A half a dozen or so flock of turkey's exploded out of the trees! About gave me a heart attack!

    Winter Gloves

I try to get all of my yard work, etc. done when it's pleasent outside. My horses have other plans. They like to be fed and cleaned up after on a daily basis. In my neck of the woods, winter temps average in the 20's or 30's with an occasional bout down to around zero during the coolest...

    Winter Gloves

It's time, maybe past, brr, for a new pair of insulated water proof gloves. I like an open cuff because I need to easily take them on and off while I care for my horses. I need a little bit more protection from the cold then the usual TSC offerings by Carrhart, etc. plus my local stores do not...

    Cataracts and other visual concerns!

When I had both of my eyes done, I opted to see distance after wearing glasses since 5th grade. I paid what Medicare did not to have progressive safety lenses put into my frames. Nuclear fallout information

I just now noticed this thread so I have to read through it when I have more time. The History Channel's documentary Hiroshima 75 years later is a good watch. I ended up in Germany in 1970. Base piece, M110 8" with strategic weapons, ie; the W33 (I think it was) nuclear round. Always kind of...

    Replacement Break Away Box

The LED display on my break away box is getting pretty rough from exposure to the weather. When I used it last week or so, one of the wires broke off of the sealed charging circuit. So, I think I will just replace the whole box. The trailer mostly sits so I remove the 5 AH battery and put it on...

Hay Making on a Different Scale

Last Saturday, I picked up 100 bales from my supplier. That will last me roughly three months so I was discussing the winter supply with my supplier. He had a mixed reply. Share Pics of People Hauling or Towing Something Wrong

Some twenty years ago or so I hauled an old IH dump truck home on my 14k 20+5 gooseneck. If I recall correctly it was an 1800 series? IH 345 gasser with a 5&2, air brakes. My trailer did not look like the one in post 21,574. I did make a second trip for the 10' plow.

Anyone else have an unusually large number of hummingbirds this year?

Been awhile since I was around that area. Back in 1978 I believe it was, before the Merrill Creek reservoir was built, Greg Hanisek who wrote an outdoor column for the Easton Express and a few others hawk watchers counted approximately 18,000 broadwing's in one day. No lie.

We have two still hanging around here in south central KY. That's down from about 50 or 60 as close as we could kind of count. Kind of glad that we only get the ruby throat's. Anyone else have an unusually large number of hummingbirds this year?

Most glass feeders still use a plastic base and feeder ports. We do have one with a metal base that was a gift. Our friends say that it is "their" birds go to feeder. While the birds we have do use it, the glass and plastic feeders are still their go to feeders.

Been awhile since I bought posts directly from a company treating them with the ACQ process so I did a bit of looking online. The process is still available, at least in round post. Not caught yet but how to remove a skunk from Havahart live trap?

A tip for dog owners. Always keep a bottle of saline on hand for flushing out their eyes. When my rottie got blasted years ago, I was wearing contact lenses so I had some. I emptied the whole container on her then we both took a bath with Dawn dish detergent.

Not caught yet but how to remove a skunk from Havahart live trap?

Back in the mid fifties, my father and his buddy used to go out at night and trap skunks in the dumps that were prevalent in the area. They would blind them with a flashlight and throw them into a burlap bag. I do not recall if they ever got sprayed or not? They then used either to make the...

I am going to comment to this thread politically by stating that breeders need to be licensed with those funds going to shelters. Next, mandatory spa or nueter for cats and dogs. Low cost trailer modifications.

This is my ramp for loading with a hand truck. This was half of a ramp that I made for the box truck that I used to have. It's heavy and lives out in the weather so it looks rough. Here is another close up of my hay ramp hooks that allow me to raise and secure it in a near vertical position. Barn Cat Care

IMHO. The best thing that you can do for a barn cat is to catch it with a Have-A-Heart or similar trap and have it sprayed or nuetered then release it back to the barn. Rabies shots won't hurt either. I am lucky to have a rescue group that will pay for desexing strays.

I made the ramp by cutting an old aluminum ladder in half and using scrap PVC and metal pipe to widen it. Low cost trailer modifications.

I had welded these "D" rings onto the fenders a couple of years ago hence the rust on the support angles. The trailer came with a vertical angle to support the fender. I added a horizontal angle and diagonal angle to secure my bolt on D ring. This gave me a latch point in between the stake...

    Low cost trailer modifications.

Now for the mods. I welded "D" rings onto the front load stop to secure my flathooks. The vertical angles were only factory welded to the vertical flat side of the angle so I had to also weld them to the flat side under the rings. Prior to this mod, I had to use axle straps on the trailer frame.
