My boy Buck was a handful when he was a pup. I bit my tongue a bunch of times because I know it was not his fault. I was not home during the day, and I was not going to lock him up in a crate. He had two sisters a GSD and a beagle to watch over him, but pretty sure all they did was shake their...

    Snowblower Skid Pads for Gravel

I found this site that makes wheel setups for plows and snowblowers. I think they would work fine for folks that have blacktop or concrete driveways. Problem with wheels, they don't have enough surface area to support a heavy snowblower on softer ground. I think the skids are the way to go for...

Buying Advice Questions about potential purchase, not sure where to start

I have two tractors for my 13-acre property in NY. One is a John Deere 4320 which gets very little use, and one is a Kubota BX 2680. Had I purchased a loader with the Kubota the JD would get even less use. I think the BX would be a perfect size for you IMHO. What it can do over the little JD...

4320 Coolant Leak from Timing Cover advise please

It was a pain in the ass but it's doable. The hardest part was the two bolts under the radiator. They have nuts imbedded into the plastic of the radiator. They just spun within the plastic, so I could not get the bolts out. My bolts just turned and turned. Had to cut them off. You may get lucky.

    Do you have wheel weights?

I repurposed these old wheel weights. Dad bought them in 1969 for his JD 140, and then used them on his JD 316 in the picture. I sold the 316 but kept them for the Kubota I bought. They make a bunch of difference in the snow.
  40. dj1701

    Do you have wheel weights?

Wheel weights are good for plowing, snow blowing, pushing or pulling, but weight on the back of the tractor is better for loader work. A load in the bucket will use the front axle as a fulcrum and take weight off the rear of the tractor. Weights and loaded tires will counter this, but not as...

    More electrical woes

Okay guys here's the update. My buddy came over yesterday to have a look. He's an electrician for a local municipality in a different town. He pulled the meter from the house and snapped in it's place a device called a "Super Beast". He turned it on and within seconds said it's not your house...

    More electrical woes

An uninterruptible power supply (UPS) or uninterruptible power source is a type of continual power system that provides automated backup electric power to a load when the input power source or mains power fails. A UPS differs from a traditional auxiliary/emergency power system or standby...

    More electrical woes

So, the power in my home is fluctuating. The UPS says 114v and sometimes 139v and everything in between. The lights are constantly dimming then getting bright again. The UPS in the computer room just decided to shut itself off at random after running fine for a year. I swapped it out for...

1 tractor rest of forever -- what brand?

I have both a JD and a Kubota and both dealerships are within 15 minutes from me. I would recommend either of them to someone looking for a forever tractor. I have a Massy and Kioti dealer not that much farther. I'm sure that other tractor brands make good tractors as well, but I am familiar...

The camera and lens both have internal stabilizers in them. You could get those pics handheld, but you would need a faster shutter speed. I get tired holding the camera, so I use a tripod.

    Tiller for GC

I have, and with my 4320 which is on par with your MX. No difference that I can tell. Compaction is not a one off. It's not like OMG I have to start all over again.

Driving over tilled soil one time will not compact it very much. It's a non-issue. Never had any problems planting where the tire track was. Dave

When I mow a steeper hill, I only go straight up, and straight down. I never sidehill it gives me a little pucker. Thats God's way of saying, be careful stupid, your guardian angel called in today. I also have trails through the woods that I mow. Some mud, some ruts. I did get stuck temporarily...

    Best subcompact for the money

No, I did not because I have a bigger tractor with one. The tractor is set up with hydraulics for the loader. When I got the plow it hooked right up. Dave https://www.tractorbynet.com/forums/attachments/20190117_141530-jpg.856483/...

I guess that puts the kibosh to the ZTR crowd. I looked at the ZTR's and they just could not go where I needed to go. I even looked at the Cub's with all wheel steering, but they were still just 2WD. I was in the same mindset as you about getting a mower that would last. In my opinion anything...

    Milwaukee Battery Top Handle chainsaw

I have one of those tiny Fisher Price chain saws by Sthil. I use it all the time. For your average homeowner with some land, they are great. I'm sure the Milwaukee are great as well. One problem as mentioned above, it leaks bar oil no matter how you sit it. Dave

    Tiller for GC

I would recommend 48" tiller. Ran one on my Kubota BX. Never needed anything bigger. Remember Bigger is also Bigger $$$. Don't worry about covering the width of the tractor, who cares? Come planting time there's going to be tracks all over the place. Also, a thing to remember, those reverse...
