If you are talking grade 8 for a head bolt you need to get real head bolts. I realize you are doing this on a budget but I don’t think you can shortcut head bolts.

A lot of states have a law to turn on your lights when it’s raining. It just doesn’t sink in to some people. I originally wasn’t a fan of daytime running lights but have changed my mind since at least the headlights will be on for people that won’t turn their lights on.

I always use Stabil in my small engines. I think it’s more important to use ethanol free gas for longer storage. If I keep the tanks full with Stabil treated ethanol free fuel I’ve never had a problem. My second choice is to run them dry.

I personally am a fan of a full sized half ton trucks. Most of the time I’m hauling air like a lot truck owners but there are times a full size truck bed can seem small. I think if smaller trucks got 30 mpg I’d like them more but they seem to get just a little better than full sized.

We used to have a local mower sales place that sold Stihl and had a decent repair shop. They closed and now we have Ace Hardware and the John Deere dealer that sells them but I don’t think they really fix them. Husky is sold at a local farm store but I’m not impressed with their repair shop.

I’ve used Stabil for years and had good luck but I either run my small engines dry or keep the tank full. I suspects it’s keeping fuel fresh has as much to do with it more than the Stabil. 5 gallon cans can be a pain but the smaller quantities tend to keep your fuel fresh.

In Western Illinois I see them once in a while but it’s a once or twice a year thing. They used to be more common 30 years ago. I’ve heard the turkeys being introduced has hurt their population because the turkeys break the quails eggs. I don’t know if that’s true or not.

I’ve had better luck cleaning the carb by taking it apart then replacing it. It seems the replacement isn’t always setup for the exact engine I put it on.

Illinois recognizes nobody’s permits except their own. They do issue permits to out of state people though.

Compared to Chrysler late model Hemi engines it does have a lot of crap. The newer Hemi engines are really pretty wide open to work on compared to some.

I imagine if you spray your truck with something like Fluid Film you would be washing it off by power washing. I think your still ahead washing it though. I’ve also read keeping a vehicle in a heated garage makes it rust sooner if exposed to salt.

I got these cover caps for the ports of my end loader quick connects. The JD ones wouldn’t stay pushed together when the loader was on and the female ones could be difficult to get off when the end loader was off.

I think what makes a MS261 good is its weight for its power. There are a lot of saws in its class that make just as much power but weigh more. 1 or 2 pounds isn’t a lot of weight but as you get older it makes a difference.

I own a MS250 and MS261 also. You’re going to like that 261 a lot.

I’ve also stopped using air tools and power tools so much. It’s not that much slower. I will use them for some things like spinning lug not off but I even then hand tighten them.

As far as storing wood outside I’m sure it’s better enclosed but I don’t burn a lot of wood, about 1 to 2 cords a year. I live in Western Illinois and we get humid days but I think there is enough dry sunny days and some low humidity days in the fall it dries pretty good.

That fireplace and carpet has been there for about 15 years, a bit longer. There are a couple of burn spots but it’s not bad. We have a battery Dyson vacuum that I can vacuum up the crap in about 1 minute.

I’d say oak and hickory. They don’t necessarily split that great depending on the tree but with a hydraulic splitter it doesn’t matter as much.

There are some cars that just came together in perfection on a particular model year. Your Nova is one of those in my opinion.

I got a seal kit for it and luckily found a YouTube video where he installed seals in a pump like mine. Took about and hour to do it. A picture of the old seals and the pump mostly put back together.

My understanding is my homeowners insurance would cover theft or fire. The insurance I have is more if I wreck it.

I insured mine when I bought my JD through State Farm. I can’t remember how much but something around $200 a year. The JD insurance was about the same. It’s paid off I’m thinking of dropping it.

I’d say if you want to stop it you could fence the line. That doesn’t look like it would block the others from using the drive. They do have a term for that, it’s called a “spite fence”. It serves no purpose except to spite the neighbor. I’ve seen one of those built.

Other people use the same driveway but have an easement? If so that keeps you from blocking it off. If it’s just your driveway I’d gate it and lock it and keep him from using it. I’m a land surveyor, I’ve seen people fight over shared easements but not a case like yours.
