Trading Up, what to do with BX2660?

Seriously looking to get a B2601 with BH, FEL, & MMM. My BX2660 is a 2011 with about 550 hours on it, with FEL and 54" MMM, all in rather good shape, stored indoors, maintained, etc. So, I could trade it in, which would get me minimum $$$, or I could post it in the classifieds (maximum $$$?)...

    Trade a BX2660 for a BX25D?

I've had the 2660 for about 5 years, mowing mostly (54"MMM), but also building and maintain gravel driveways (FEL & box blade), general FEL work, and a little brush hog work with 48" LandPride on the PTO. So, I will be building a new home next year, I run HAM radio antenna lines and have...

    Tiller for BX2660?

Wanting to put in a garden this spring, I am looking for advice on which rotary tiller to run off the PTO of my BX2660? My other implements are LandPride, by they don't seem to carry tillers. Also, wonder if I should go forward or reverse rotation of the tiller? I value quality/reliability...

Digging a Pond with a BX

Would it be a reasonable project to use my BX2660, the FEL, and a 48" LandPride box blade to dig a pond about 80 feet in diameter, and maybe 15 feet deep? It's flat are near the creek, and the soil is black clay without significant rocks. I was thinking I could tilt the box blade to the max...

    BX Hydraulic Line Ruptured :-(

Cut about 4 acres today, and when I parked the 2660 (270 hours on the clock), there was a puddle of hyd-oil under the front end. Turns out, one of the line to the steering cylinder rubbed the side of the engine and sprung an abrasion leak. The part will be a hose assembly, but getting to the...

    BX with Herd Feeder/Seeder (pictures)

BX spreader questions seem to come up, so I thought I'd share my new set-up. This is the Model I-92 electric spreader on a BX2660. The electrical box and on/off and a speed control rheostat. I put the box together. Have not spread anything yet. Power comes from the extra circuit at the back...

    Baler's Share?

I am going to cultivate and plant 5 acres of Bermuda hay this next spring. As a look for someone to come in to mow and square bale, what is a fair share of the produce? Also, would it be better if I mowed it? Thanks.

    Pasture to Hay Production

I have about 4 ac. of pasture that has been uncultivated for many years. This is North Texas, and it's flat, black clay soil. I would like to cultivate it to produce Bermuda hay, or at least make it a lawn/grazing area devoid of weeds or other obnoxious plants. There are no horses on it right...

BX 54" Fine Cut Deck Gearbox Leaking

I've got a pretty good leak in the gearbox on my MMM. The deck is 1.5 years old and has maybe 130 hours on it. Last week, I cleaned and serviced the deck, and topped up the gear oil in the gear box. It took a few ounces, which raised an eyebrow. Then I mowed about 4 acres and the dad-gummed...

    Please Make a Mid-PTO Cover

Dear BXpanded, or some other accessory manufacturer: Please make a mid-PTO cover sleeve that is splined, slides on the shaft when the mower is off, and has a detent/button that works kind of like other PTO shaft latches. It should scrape the splines clean as it is mounted and removed. I am...

    Evacuator Valved Crumbled

You know, the little bird-beak on the air cleaner housing you pinch to let dust and grit out. Well, my BX2660 is about one year old and has 140 hours on it. The other day I am doing the pre-flight check and give it a pinch, and it crumbles in my fingers! Anybody else experience this?

    Spreading Fertilizer with BX

I need to fertilize about 5ac of fairly open pasture. This is a once, maybe twice, a year task. Will use my BX2660. Would like some guidance on 3-point vs. pull behind, vs. receiver hitch electric (my BX has a sturdy 2" receiver on the draw-bar plate). If you could mention make & model that...

    Simple BX Rear Light Install

This is my simple rear light install. I basically bolted the SoundOff light to the slow-moving vehicle sign bracket, ran the wire through the fender with the turn signal cable, and then spliced it to the rear running light wires (the red light on the fender). Since this 500 lumen LED light...

    Adding Electric Circuit to BX2660

Has anybody added a fuse and circuit to the BX fuse block? It looks like it has space, and I wonder if there is a kit or instructions. I am adding some work lights and would like to make it fairly permanent and clean. Thanks...

The BX2660 is up at the shop today, getting fitted

with a new LA243 FEL. Feeling kind of excited, a bit like Christmas morning. Planning to put in about 150 foot gravel drive extension, and the FEL will get the chore of spreading the road base. Pictures to follow.

Remove 3-Point Hitch Links on BX2660?

I would like to take the upper and lower links off when I mow, and when I pull a wagon with the BX2660. The upper link comes off easy as pie. Is there any way to take the lower links off quickly? I can remove the center plate that the turnbuckles attach to, but then the lower links just slide...

No Oil in Front Axle!!!! BX2660

So, I am doing the 50 hour service and I pull the front axle fill plug/dip stick to check the oil. Dry as a bone. WTF! I shine a light in the hole and the axle shaft dry. There is a small amount of oil in the bottom of the casing, but it is nowhere near the bottom of the dipstick. Yes, it...

    BX2660 Transmission Strainer Cleaning

I've read the archives on the 50-hour service, one area is unclear... When I remove the transmission strainer assembly for cleaning, will all the transmission fluid drain out? Since the manual rates the fluid for 400 hour replacement, this would be captured in a clean pan and poured back into...

    BX with a Flail Mower?

Is anybody actually running a flail mower on the back of a BX? Would like to hear about your experience. I am looking at a Caroni 47", and maybe a 59" flail for my BX2660. Thanks for your thoughts.

BX, Mowing With Deck Locked at Top?

Can I run my BX2660 and 54" Fine Cut MMM with the mower locked at the "Top" position? I sold my rotary mower to buy this, so that's not an option anymore. I've got about 2 acres of pasture I want to bring down to finishing mower status. Right now it's about knee-high with native Texas hot...

BX Turf Tires; To Slime, or Not To Slime, that is the question?

Here in Texas, we have a lot of pointy plants, like Mesquite, Osage Orange, etc. So, most of my inflatable tires wind up with about a pint of Slime in them. Now, my land is pretty cleared, but some pointy stuff is still out there. Should I just go-ahead and slime the turf tires on my new...

Landscape Rake, should I get Gauge Wheels?

I need a rake to clear debris from 5 acres before running the finishing mower over it, and also to groom gravel driveways. I've settled on the Landpride LR0560, 60" rake for my Kubota BX subcompact tractor. The darn thing cost $675 out the door. But the gauge wheels are another $300...

Which LP Box Blade for BX2660

The two Land Pride choices are the BB0548 and the BB1548. They are both 48" and both have 4 scarifiers, the basic differences are: BB0548 - 12" side boards; 277 pounds. BB1548 - 17" side boards; 382 pounds. BTW, the BX2660 manual specs the box blade maximums as 48" and 375 pounds. I'm...

I'm Stunned, brought he BX home today

I am stunned how creamy smooth and refined my new BX2660 is :D I was running a Troy-Bilt rider and a 30+ year old Yanmar until today. Today I brought the BX home and got 2 hours of seat time mowing and dragging the pasture. I'm in rapture. I have no idea how awesome a tractor could be...

My first post here too ;-) I have 6.5 acre (1.5/5 yard/pasture) and was using a Troybilt 46" and a Yanmar YM2000 (24hp diesel). I have a 48" blade, a 60" chain harrow, a 48" Howse rotary mower, and a 48" 2-row disc. I am wondering if I should keep the Yanmar (would like to get the $$$ out of...
