At Green Tractor Talk, some members with fabrication skills basically took two pieces of 4”x6” angle (various lengths depending on tractor conditions) and made skis. Each bolts to the outside of the box blade. You can set your own heights depending where you set the bolt holes. The theory is...

I’m think that the wood splitter too at some point by the previous owner as he spilt a lot of firewood. So you are thinking it would be activated during the “constant pumping” mode and would need to have its valve to allow flow/no flow? That’s kind of what I’ve been thinking.

Supply chain issues not ending soon - Case and New Holland in this article.

I’m in a new Ford Expedition and the auto trans runs fine UNTIL you need to slam it in reverse in an emergency. Then all kind of warning lights/illegal shift lights come on and you have to press the brakes , etc. Miss the old column shifter that allowed you to do a J turn.

    Insurance is strange!?!

The weird part is that it didn’t effect the homeowners I had at the time. It effected when I bought a new house out of state. The only other insurance claim I’ve had is a CAT 5 hurricane at my house.

    Insurance is strange!?!

I did the “free windshield replacement” through my auto policy. When I bought a house 4 years later it made my rate increase!

Advice on steel building and brick

Wear gloves as the coating has glass fibers. Not terrible, but you will notice if you don’t.

Advice on steel building and brick

Couple more ? Are you building yourself? What’s the substrate at the metal to brick transition? Any insulation or hvac? You can run metal panels behind brick veneer at attach brick ties to metal panels and or framing. Not my preferred way, but all depends on budget/needs.

Advice on steel building and brick

CDX is fine, but if near grade, use pressure treated. Double layer of 15 lb felt would be good if not better than Tyvek.

How long should I let new ground settle before putting in posts on piers?

One other note, a compaction test or proofroll is only a snapshot of that particular time. Meaning that you can have a perfectly placed and compacted product, then weather hits and it turns to crap(or vice versa). We have had several parking lots on jobs(25 acres plus) where conditions were not...

How long should I let new ground settle before putting in posts on piers?

OP- if you don’t care and money doesn’t matter, roll the dice and go ahead and build/pour as-is. Maybe it will suit your needs and budget. If you want it to last, and be of use in the future; remove the fill, clean the fill, place and compact the fill along with using grading and gravity to...

How long should I let new ground settle before putting in posts on piers?

Also most dozers have low ground pressures, ie they don’t do a good job of compacting. A Cat D6 has ground pressure of about 8psi.

How long should I let new ground settle before putting in posts on piers?

Helical piers are an excellent option for the post bases. I would forgo the slab for a few years to see what happens. If you have a geotechnical engineer nearby, have them come and take a proctor and do a few penetrometer tests or nuclear density tests.

How long should I let new ground settle before putting in posts on piers?

I build commercial buildings for a living and have been in this industry for 25 years. Many moving parts, involved. Several good comments above from Crashz (trash in dirt, proofroll), Dodge Man and some others. Virgin soul doesn’t always mean it’s good and has adequate bearing capacity. The...

Home built hydraulic FEL mounted hedge cutter

That is awesome. I admire your skills to think of that and then to fabricate / build it from old pieces/parts!! I am sure that first run was very satisfying.
