    Finish mower spindle bearings

I bought a used King Kutter, 6' finish mower. I knew the right spindle was worn and would need to be repaired or replaced. While "bearing and seal kits" are available, I went for the new spindle assembly. Thereafter, the center spindle shaft, blade mounting hole stripped out, so I went with...

Glow Plugs ... "Do they get WeaK"?

Since I got my M/F 1529, last fall, it has always seemed to cold start kind of dirty to me. I recently pulled the glow plugs and checked them for visual performance. They did have some carbon deposits, which led me to believe, that they weren't getting hot enough in 15 seconds. They all measured...

York Rake from pull with SS to push with tractor ..

Driveway maintenance hasn't always gone as well, as I would like, without more work, than I thought it should be. I've got a 3PTH Gannon box blade, 3PTH back blade and a 3PTH York Rake. With a rear mounted implement, when the nose of the tractor goes into lower level, the implement raises ...

A "Miracle" of a log splitter hydraulic malfunction!

So, I bought this used Huskee 22 ton log splitter. It had probably spent most of it's days sitting out in the weather. However, it seemed to work fine. But, some of the powder coat was pealing off and there was rust underneath. So, I stripped off the bad spots, primed and painted. In the...

    Removing Rust

Everybody I know, who has a tractor or machinery has encountered RUST. But what I'm thinking about, are those pieces, which are frozen together or pretty nasty for refinishing. This weekend, I decided to try "electrolysis" for removing rust. You can find YouTube videos on the process. It's...

    John Deere Farm Family Wedding!

A friend of mine just had a daughter get married. While not all of their tractors (22 of them) are John Deere's, they are the most favorite. The "Model T" was finished, just in time, and especially, for the wedding. Let's throw a few round bales in for "the cake"!

Electric PTO Clutches - "SoftStart Clutch Controller"

Electric PTO clutches have always been a concern of mine. So, I'll simply direct your attention to one of my other posts, on the subject. http://www.tractorbynet.com/forums/massey-ferguson-owning-operating/370341-thread-mf-1529-a-post4722659.html#post4722659

To 35 Rear fenders crumpled ???

How come, so many of the TO 35 tractors have the rear fenders crumpled on the rear ends? It looks like the draft arms grabbed them on the way up or some implement. If I raise the draft arms, they don't seem to get close to the fenders, when lifted all the way up. Hmmm .... ??

Ferguson TO 35 Instrument Cluster ????

A friend, just got a '59 Ferguson TO 35, which doesn't have a TACH or TEMP gauge. Has anybody tried to add either? I couldn't see any hole in the engine block for a temp probe to be installed, nor any place on the engine with a place to insert the tach drive cable. The only hole in the water...

"Use your head, before you lose your head"!!

I called a dealer about a used MF 235. He said, it had been tipped over backwards ... the owner had hooked a rope to the top-link pin (don't know, what he was trying to pull), needless to say, he broke the rule! "Never try to pull anything, from an attachment point above the axle"!! I know of...

3-Point Hitch  1529 is there an adjustment or stops on the position control?

I know there are "adjustable stops" on the position control quadrant, but is there anything "underneath"? The draft arms don't raise awfully high, even with the stop on the quadrant all the way up, the position control lever stops before it reaches the quadrant stops?? MF 1529 Maybe, my top...

Snow Attachments  Adding skid shoes to my Fisher HT plow?

This has been a hard winter for plowing snow, as the ground hasn't really gotten very frozen. My drive and several others in the family are not paved, so if I let the plow "float", a lot of the drive gets thrown over with the snow. I've decided to go ahead and put skid shoes on the plow. The...

Domestic Tank Hot Water Heater Trouble

This is a topic, which I wasn't totally unaware of, but didn't give it too much consideration. My 1998, 40 gal. LP hot water heater, seemed a bit strange a year or so ago. It seemed like the water was cooler and the burner didn't seem to respond as quickly. I thought the burner control was...

    Thread for MF 1529

I'm going to start this thread for the MF 1529, so that my progress has some continuity to it. Currently, I'm working on the instrument panel. I've got two lights, which come on with the key: one is a picture of a battery, which I figure means the key is on. ? The other, adjacent to it, I...

Has anyone removed and straightened a PTO shaft on a MF 1529 or similar?

My PTO wobbles, somewhat. I hooked the brush hog up today, just to see how it acted and it shakes it up pretty good. I was wondering what's involved in getting the shaft out and can it be straightened? OR, .. can it be straightened with a block of wood and the right size sledge hammer? ...

Where is the hood release for a MF 1529?

Bought a MF 1529 last Sat, to supplement my Ford NAA. While, I can get the hood open from underneath, I notice a cable attached to the release latch, but, for the life of me (without tracing it back), can't find a hood release knob among the many others. Where is it?!!

"Repurposing" an old haymow hayfork .... Grapple

I'm not sure which forum this belongs in ..... So, last week, I had 8 trees taken down in and around the yard. My guy, who cut them, uses a Bobcat, quite extensively for picking up brush and logs. Today, I was cleaning up around my burn pile, as I had previously drug some fallen trees close...

Brush Hoggin' with a RED BELLY FORD .. hay seeds in radiator ... HOT! Cure??

Hi y'all, Well, last fall, I restored the NAA Jubilee. This year, I was thinking about brush hogging the fields and knew that the hay seeds, etc. block the radiator fins, and come out the back like a sand blaster, if they get through. Plus, I put in a new radiator, which I'd guess is about...

National Mower Co. Walk-Behind Sickle Bar - Restoration

For awhile, I've been thinking about something to mow around the pond. A sickle bar mower for the Ford would be OK, .. if I felt like putting it on the tractor. I saw this Vintage National Mower on eBay in the spring, but decided against it. Once again, this fall, saw it again. I had just...

Ford NAA runs BAD!. The fuel .. the cure

Hi Gang, For the last couple of years, while brush hogging the fields, the tractor has NOT run good at all! The "Back Woods Boys" remove my willow tree

I "had" this large willow tree, between the road and my power lines to the house, which I thought, I'd prefer to have gone. I didn't want to climb it, I didn't want to clean up the mess and I didn't want to try to burn it, after it was down. So, I called the pros. Done deal! Back Woods Boys...

My Frankenstein side wing, pond mower, ZTR attachment!!

HA, Ha, Ha .... I mentioned this project last year, but just got around to it. I wanted a way to mow around the pond with the ZTR, without falling in. Snow Equipment Owning/Operating  Meyer E47 pump .. how to best bleed angle cylinders?

I've got a Meyer plow with an E47 pump. While I've never had problems before, this year, I do! After I angle the plow to the left, against the stop, it won't angle right. I've found, that the right cylinder (pushes blade to left angle) continues to have pressure on it. The only way, which I can...

What do you use to spray paint?

In the past, I always used the compressed air sprayer. However, when I recently sprayed the box blade, I used an HVLP, which I had gotten to spray some furniture, which I built for the grand kids. I thought, the HVLP worked good, with a lot less over-spray and mess. Also, no water to worry about...

Building a Bilco Cellar Door for old farmhouse.

The old house, where I grew up and my current house, both have outside cellar-ways. These houses were both built 120 + years ago, using field stone for the foundations. The doors over the cellar-way, were always constructed of wood, which had to be replaced every so often (fairly frequently...

    Ethanol fuel solutions .. thoughts

I believe, ethanol fuel, has been and will continue to be, a major headache for those of us, who have "intermittent use" engines around. 3pt Forks to De-thatcher

This isn't too exciting, unless you need one. This is an old build, which I created, when I was redoing my front lawn. I didn't want to have to build the whole 3 pt assembly, so I used the forks frame, which I don't use that often. Even at that, the De-thatcher is quickly removable from the...

Physics .. "Active" tractor weights .. Shifting the C/G ZTR ??

Here is a new concept, I'm mentally working on. I've got 30 pounds of weight under the rear of my ZTR mower. This helps with traction, however, even the 30 pounds doesn't balance out the weight of the front (deck, castor wheels, etc.). If I'm going down an incline, with a roll, the mower won't...

    Ford NAA Distributor/Oil pressure problem
