I still love the sound of those old time Homelites. Newer saws remind of of 4 banger car sounds compared to big V8 sounds. Not that I want to go back to old time saws for cutting, but they are nice to listen to. As is my 496 ci V8 🤣
Referencing top handle saws, my Stihl MS192T seems to have a torn boot between the carb and saw ("intake manifold"). Flexing of the handle seems to be the issue is my guess. Curious if anyone knows if Stihl modified the boot to tolerate the flexing?
At least you didn't run over it with your tractor. I've never done that, but some have. I always set my saws down in the bed of my truck or next to a big tree.
I completely agree. I go to great extent to not buy anything made in China. I don't always find made in USA like I want. But nearly anything outside of China has benefits to me.
Back on the topic of plugs, I came across this website. Granted it is a UK site, but anyone know if the NGK plugs you buy in the US from Sthil are any different from other NGK plugs of the same model?

Reminds me of when I was a kid and filed down spark plugs to clean metal, re-gapped and put them back in. Never thinking about what those metal shavings did to the cylinder. Never on much more than an old lawnmower that did not run well, probably because my older brother did the same thing...
You don't seem to be getting my point. Jeephead explains it better than I did, so maybe read his posts. Let's say you spend 10 years designing and perfecting a "5030 Hand Tool" which is better than any hand tool out there by far. You have it made in China to keep costs down and sell each...
I agree, buying something that was simply made in China is one thing. Buying a knock-off copied by China and made in China is completely different. The first is bad, but understandable. The second is horrible for people here to buy.
Not just an O ring issue? On my Stihls sometimes I get a pice of gunk under the O ring and it does that (leaks in any position except caps up). Or the O ring has just lost its shape and needs to be replaced.
I had not seen anything on the MS400. Must be a replacement of the MS362. More power, yet lighter. My guess is there will then be a MS300. Then the MS261, 362, 462 will be gone. Replaced by the MS300, 400, 500
Well I had a 24 inch diameter log roll onto my Stihl MS441. The bar was propped on a smaller log and the larger log jackknifed the saw. The top dog connection snapped as well as the rear stud and chain tensioner post. I checked with two Stihl dealers and the clutch half of the housing was $249...
