If I had to choose one or the other I would agree with you. The scraper is a much better tool for maintenance, and if it's a well established driveway that may be all thats needed. But I would buy both used before picking one or the other.

I'm not familiar with end plates for a scraper blade but I would guess the edge is probably hardened steel. If that's the case it would be hard to make them. If you want the ability to put end plates on it it's probably best to buy a blade that you can get end plates for. Personally, I've never...
