Are you ok Brandi? My original post was after you first posted. The second was just explaining.

Truck & Trailer ideas to tow 14,000 and be under 26,000 pounds

My comment on reading whole thread was because you obviously didn’t know of the training class change. Yes, another bloated money generating grab that will do zero to “save lives or property”. Yup, stupid uncle sugar wants more pork to clog lives up. Propose? I wrote my congress people that the...

I knew someone would bring up the speeding of vid. Of coarse it makes it more interesting, but can’t deny her skill of moving, rotating, tilting.

I see those used by municipalities but not the wheeled excavators we were talking about. 2 different machines.

Truck & Trailer ideas to tow 14,000 and be under 26,000 pounds

Yea, you should probably read through the thread. Things have changed. but, one thing you said..”Hauling my own stuff I don't need a yearly physical and the trailer does not need to be inspected”. Why are people safe hauling heavy loads when not for others? why am I safe hauling 38k for farm...

There was a youtube channel i watched from England, duck..something, and it was a girl that ran one. She was incredible and it had a long floor bucket and a rotator. Man was(is) she good. here she is, it looks like you have to go straight to youtube to watch. It’s worth it. Duckgirl86 haven’t...

I do like wheeled trackhoes they use over there. I think they’re Volvos. Seem to move down the road pretty good.

i drew a pic! Regardless if trailer is hooked to a hitch or on its own jack, the wight is ON the trailer and the manufacturer says that is the most it can carry(payload capacity), regardless of were the weight is actually supported. Its not that the axles can only weigh so much.

That trailer would haul it, but technically not legal. Cant guess at a trailers weight to figure out payload and you cant go over a trailer rated payload capacity (gvwr - actual weight) no matter what you transfer to tow vehicle. Trust me, i want to be able to do it, but it’s not legal. You...

Not federally. If it was federally all states would have to follow it. We follow basic fed guidelines here. A state can only make the cdl laws more stringent(for their own residents only, not out of towner driving through).

I just sent my email off. It is ironic as a farmer i can pull 38000lb of hay, cattle, or farm equipment, but as a plumber i cant pull 26001 to dig up a sewer. How am i a safer driver when pulling for farm?

Truck & Trailer ideas to tow 14,000 and be under 26,000 pounds

Bottom line is we need more nationwide pressure on legislatures to start amending dot laws. One thing that makes it the hardest is the teamsters are the biggest lobbyist out there and they depend on restrictions under the guise of safety. its just a mess, and they scream its all for safety...

Are you sure you could not be more wrong. Key word is “commerce”. FMCSA “As previously explained in FMCSA’s regulatory guidance for § 383.3, question 6, drivers of vehicles used strictly for non-business purposes do not need a CDL unless the state of licensure requires it.”

The best tool i have bought for hauling is a tongue scale. No guessing.

Much excellence in post quality. Around the jobsites we do are usually new houses in new subdivisions, and as they get filled sometimes we get to know the homeowners. Cops seem to congregate together. We had a few state dot’s move in and got to know them. They said they never pull us over for...

Truck & Trailer ideas to tow 14,000 and be under 26,000 pounds

Me personally, I think everyone is crazy. But it’s none of my business what they do unless it affects me. Then we have a problem. I don’t make up problems that “might” need fixed. If they hurt or kill someone it’s their responsibility. But laws rarely change that cause those people are going to...

And that’s fine to disagree, but there should be no government interference in what an individual feels they can do. It’s up to them to be safe. And if something happens it’s between them and the others involved. We get sooo wrapped up in putting out legislation to fix this and that, annd it...

Truck & Trailer ideas to tow 14,000 and be under 26,000 pounds

I’m sure I’ll get a 2024 with the 6.7 HO and it will have a 25k bumper pull rating. I’ll never pull that much but it’s sure nice to use things well under their rated capacity. Instead of getting and aluminum 14k trailer to haul my 11600lb excavator I’d like to get an 18k to pull it. Still be...

Why do we need to have a line? And equipment is getting bigger and heavier cause you have to produce more and more now to cover uncle sugars needs. Lots of taxes need paid and lots and lots of mouths to feed.

Link I said 21, it’s actually 20k. Yours may be as well. F350 srw, 176 wb with 20” tires. And on edit, the 2023 f350 is 23-25k bumper pull.

Truck & Trailer ideas to tow 14,000 and be under 26,000 pounds

I’ll check it out, but any trailer that can haul 14k is going to at least take a 4k trailer so your truck needs a tow rating of at least 18k. Now I’m talking of only bumper pull, I have stuff in bed that keeps me from using gooseneck. My srw f350 is rated for 21k bumper.

Yes, luckily ky pretty much follows fed guidelines and doesn’t make it more restrictive. I was only aware of Cali with their rv licensing and the 10k trailer rule. You’re saying there are more than 25 nanny states requiring rv licensing? What sucks for those people is out of state people can...

Truck & Trailer ideas to tow 14,000 and be under 26,000 pounds

100%. Who wants to be in bed with the government more than you have to. Like I posted, cdl limits are just arbitrary numbers that congress cooked up in 1994. It creates more revenue through additional costs, like med cards. They run you through little clinics here for $75. State fuel tax, some...

Truck & Trailer ideas to tow 14,000 and be under 26,000 pounds

I didn’t read through this whole thread, but if your hauling equipment to your own farm, as long as you don’t live on a nanny state like Cali, you absolutely do not need a cdl. You are private and not doing this for money, and if you are farming you would be farm exempt so get that tag. I deal...
