They got some of it right. But then they were working on air travel at that time and telephones.

They got most of it. Police have x-ray vans that are causing all kinds of hate and discontentment, and of course there is the TSA.
Airplanes, airships, submarines, theater, trailer houses are normal. Container ships might be close to rail ships, moving sidewalks have been tried in limited areas but are far too complex to be implemented on a wide scale. Cruise ships could be considered roofed cities, from a population standpoint; trips to the poles are doable, if one would want to go. The weather one is the biggest letdown, although some say that the HAAPR project has affected weather, albeit in a deleterious way. Still can't walk on water, but pwc and those inflatable dingys do a pretty good job.

Nice try, 2LaneCruzer, but there are so many licences/forms/regulations involved that it's impracticable.

I want something that's "WAGTAIL-PROOF"! (which is one step more than 'idiot-proof')

Maybe some sort of dirigible? Something you can tether to the house or shed.
