My brothers new-to-him Ferguson TO-20 had been converted to 12v, since it has a 12V battery, ballast and seems to run fine. Problem is, the alternator doens't have any wires run to it!!!! The battery must have been recently charged, but I'm sure that won't last long. Can anyone point me in a direction here on how to hook her back up to work properly????

BTW, I've dubbed her (quite originally, i'm sure) as Fergie.... /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Thanks!!!

First off, is it a replacement alternator, OR the original 6v generator? you can't practically hook up the old 6v to work. You only got a 1/2 a job then.

If it is a replacement 12v alternator, which type? You'll have to find some numbers off it. There are some pretty simple ones with 1 wire & built in regulator, etc. But it would be wrong of us to assume what all was replaced in there - esp if it's not hooked up now, why wasn't it hooked up?
