I'm 60 and still function.

Might need a few joint replacements, fluids changed, new ticker, arteries replaced, etc... but that's less than 1/2 price of new.

I'd snatch that up in a hurry if I needed a larger machine.

Right. But add all that up and now your not 1/2 of new, add to your list a timing belt. You still have the old model 1011 engine, and a machine with close to 4,000 hours. Still may be a good deal, but not sure if you will end up that much ahead. A lot to consider.

machine - $30,000
90" rough cut mower - $6000
72" light material bucket - $1500
26" blade stump cutter - $2500

That's $40,000 new.

For $16,000 you could put in even $10,000 in repairs and be $14,000 ahead of the game.
Timing belt we can do ourselves.

Where did you see the hour and age information? Did you give them a call? :licking:

Yes, I called Terry. Vague "everything has wear". I figured they didn't go through all that work to paint it for nothing if it was a cream puff. I would bet it looked like the loader bucket, now it looks new (I try not to fall for a pretty face). Moss, you and I are the same age. Looking forward, it would last the rest of our lives. I don't want to be chasing ghost from a 4,000 or 5,000 hour machine when I am 70 years old. There is a furniture commercial up this way that says "Quality remains long after the price is forgotten". If it ends up being a mild winter and I get the chance to travel down and IF they still have it, I would like to look it over. But I am not going to rush into it.

20 years ago, I would bet that is in the ballpark of what it cost when it was new (which is a good thing). Price sheet from 2018 list the machine as $26k, up 4k in 2 years.

I am not able to find that used 1460 on their website? I see the used 1445 with 16 hrs, but not the 1460.

Still there search PT1460 on the page. It's buried in the middle.

My smart phone would not bring it up when I went to the PT website for some reason. I got on my computer and it came up. PT usually doesn't sell used stuff do they? I wonder if this might be an employees machine?

I think they offer a space for customers to sell their old machines. Maybe they take trades?

I think it says something on their website about not taking trade ins.

If that machine is being sold by PT definately have them do the timing belt and go through all the other stuff. Have the hydraulic hoses all been redone and any leaking cylindars redone?
Will they provide a "nused" warrentee if it has been factory reconditioned?
Are u close to PT? I would consider that as a major factor when buying a used machine with 4-5k hours for servicing strange gremlins.
When I bought mine it only had 900 hours on it, so I was fairly comfortable with the engine. My big concern was with the stump grinder that came with it. I just think that the stump grinder attachment will beat the heck out of a PT. Luckily all the attachements that came with mine were in pretty good shape, so I went for it.

The Deutz although very noisy (a little less with improved 2011 model), is good for 10,000 hours with normal maintenance. The timing belt being considered normal maintenance. One thing I read, and this is not a reason to ignore it, but even when the timing belt breaks and the valves hit the pistons, the engine is designed to survive it and after replacing many valve train components, would be good as before. You would just be short a lot more cash then if you just replaced the belt.

One of the many things I alike about my 1430 is the Deutz engine.
