Would you mow across a 15-17* slope with a BX and MMM?

Would you add weight to the tires?

We really need a poll option here on TBN:D

I'd try it once, very slowly, and see how severe the pucker factor was :)

I didn't realize how significant the slope was in parts of my yard until I started mowing them with my B2920. Huge difference from the little John Deere 212 I was mowing with before. I thought I was one small bump from a rollover when mowing across the slope.

Now that I have had some decent seat time on the B2920 I realize that 99% of the 2.5 acres I mow is completely safe to mow across the slope. The other 1% I take my time on. I do have my turf tires filled. I also have a 60" MMM that lowers the center of gravity a bit. I also have the ROPS full-up and the seatbelt on, but I don't use that as an excuse to take chances.

i think I'd try it....real slow. fill the tires and have someone there while you test your theory. check for rocks, bumps, holes first and fix. maybe leave the deck pto off to test.

I don't have a tilt meter on my BX2360 but I know there are a few areas where I mow on a side hill that the seatbelt is the only thing keeping me on the tractor.I find it to be way more stable than the Sears or Cub Cadet that I used to have.My tires are not filled but I do use FWD in these situations as it gives me better traction.I am sure the tractor could be made to roll over but it would take alot of lean angle IMO.

My iPhone reads 20-21 degrees on my slope, no weights, no fluid. I held it against the upright of the ROPS. (BX2350) Granted, it's fairly smooth lawn. Also, I weigh 145 pounds, which probably matters as you start to move over the CoG.

I got NEAR that slope with a box blade and loader, and it got scary fast - couldn't have been more than 5-10 degrees. Was too nervous to check the angle. :)

Oh... And of course you must use 4 wheel drive.

I have an as-built survey of the final grading around my house so I know that part of my front yard is about 24%, if I can still do trigonometry that means I am on a slope of about 14 degrees. I mowed with my BX23 on that slope and never really felt great about it, but then I never felt impending doom. My B3030 with loaded rears feels much better on it, I still feel a little funny but I don't feel like I am about to flip over either, and I have dipped into a couple small holes. So to mow a cross slope of 17 degrees, I guess like others say give it a shot and see how it feels.

Use your best judgement, and listen to your pucker button, I always wait till mid day on my slopes, and wait for the sun to dry them real well. Be safe, not worth it even if it takes a longer time to go up and down rather than across.

I done it with bx24. I find if BH is still attached, put bucket down low as possible, bh swung uphill and possibly extended will be ok, but tell you the truth , pucker factor is MUCH lower when both FEL and BH removed and tires loaded when mowing on a slop sideways. That what works for me.

Can u do it at an angle? Would be a bit safer perhaps? Just remember that one small rock, root, or sink hole could knock you off balance so be careful
