What orange and green tractors would be the competitors for the 1526/1529? I know zip about MF compacts but the specs and price tell me they are worth a look. What are their strengths/ weaknesses vs. their competitors?

They are well worth a look, and worth buying. Yes, i am biased, but neither of the two Iseki built MF compacts we have owned have given us any trouble.

I can't say much about comparisons, but I've owned a MF 1526 since July and so far I'm happy with it. As for price, yes, it was several thousand less than similar JDs and Kubotas, but that will depend on the MF dealer, too. Mine runs a 6ft rear finish with ease and handles a 5ft box blade pretty well. I couldn't have bought a green or orange subcompact for the price.
(figured this was a good opportunity for a first post)

I have a 1526 as well. Had mine for about 15 months and love it.
