16 in bucket for BX25 BH?

Sadly last weekend I had the task of excavating a final resting place for our family dog of 12 years who was recently diagnosed with bone cancer. The 12 inch bucket performed admirably as I took my time for about an hour and a half at full depth. I'm sure its better at trenching but it did the job. While I would not want to do this frequently, I wonder if a larger bucket would be useful. I found online a place that has 8, 12, and 16 in pin on buckets with welded teeth for a BX25. While I suspect if we "owners" find a gadget or an attachment that does a job for us well when we need it, I guess it might be justified. My question? Has anyone else considered a larger bucket for their BX? Do you have one and use it? Does it bog the machine? Any comments appreciated.

I used to own a BX25 and made a 16 inch wide bucket for it.The backhoe handled it no problem and the difference was quite noticeable in the amount of dirt moved.I would recommend the bigger bucket if you want to dig faster with your BX25.

sorry to hear about your dog. getting a larger bucket wouldnt ease the pain though. OTHO, getting a 16 inch for most normal soil shouldnt be a problem unless you have lots of rocks.

Thank you to Deano and Radioman for your kind words. It's difficult for some people to understand saying good bye to our four legged friends (big and small) and I, for one, am not ashamed to admit is was very hard to say goodbye......

As far as the bucket source, the place I found is Hy-Gear Industries.
Hy-Gear Backhoe Buckets for Kubota and are in Chino, CA.
However I must clarify one thing. I originally found them quite awhile ago and actually got a quote for a 16" bucket. It was pictured on their Kubota accessory website page with all the other Kubota buckets. At the time I did not go through and order one. ($400+ Freight) It is now not listed but that may not mean it isn't available if you contact them. I have not contacted them as of yet. Still haven't made up my mind yet as to what I want to do vs. what I should do.

Thank you, it is appreciated. She was 12 years old and indeed part of our family. Not one of my favorite things to do with the backhoe but it did save a LOT of work. My wife wants to plant a garden area over it when things "settle down" there in addition to a small "memorial" garden in our front yard for our 14 year old cat who passed last year. (We have 7 more cats Yikes !!!)

I too lost a dear friend to cancer a few years back, I wrote a quick note the day he pasted and reflect back on it from time to time. I think it was a good thing as my wife and I do not have any kids, so dogs are a big part of our family. There is nothing to be ashamed of...to each their own...carry your head high my friend and be happy you where able to have him as a friend!
