I've lost confidence in my 1715 idiot lights ... I got them all working, replaced the bulbs with LED equivalents, but reliability is spotty at best. Is there a go-to brand/model of mechanical gauges that include the necessary adapters for 1715 oil pressure and water temp?

Anyone have any creative suggestions for location? The tractor is in real nice shape and I'd prefer not to hack it up too bad for gauges. Initial idea was to put a couple of rivet nuts in the vertical part of the dash panel below the steering wheel and bolt on a small panel there ... even though I know I'm going to hit my knees on it a million times.

Are the fittings on the engine for the sensors standard sizes? I think usually 1/2" NPT for water ... and 1/8 - 1/4 NPT for oil pressure.

Not wanting to mess with the existing "dashboard' or warning lights, I mounted mechanical oil pressure and coolant temperature gauges (Both Stewart Warner) here on my Ford 1310 about 20 years ago.

It's been a good location so far - easy to view & also from a distance when for example running a PTO chipper.

I looked at my tractor and if I were to mount a set of gauges somewhere I would probably mount a bracket on the horizontal section of the "dash" just under the hood. I would have it extend down so the gauges could be mounted just above the "idiot" lights.
I remove my loader often enough that mounting them there would not work for me.

Sure I can see the problem in case you need to remove the front end loader frame attachments for some reason?

I on the other hand have never had a reason in 24 years to do that, except repainting the loader frame one time.

I'm shooting for a similar arrangement. TIG welded up this enclosure since I have no idea how water proof the gauges are, will probably make some kind of small canvas cover to put on when in storage for the winter.

The two bolt holes on the bottom of the mount will bolt on at the rear of the FEL valve box, the two screws that hold the rear of the valve cover on.

Got a set of Autometer gauges, the Bosch copper line kit and the Bosch adapter kit ... might not need all this but since I use the machine most every day I didn't want to leave it hanging while I found the parts I need.

I'll paint the gauge enclosure the proper blue of course :)

That looks good, please share photos once it's installed in place.

Couple of pics of the installed gauge panel.

As far as the fittings go ... standard oil pressure gauge fittings fit, for the water temp ... the probe and it's hold down nut screwed right in, however, that's not really how it's supposed to work I don't think, usually some type of adapter is used that the probe seals against ... going to give it a shot as is ... appears the bevel on the probe does seal on the seat in the block, and it is brass so it will deform some to seal. Coolant doesn't leak so far, got it up to about 180 degrees but I'm sure it wasn't to full pressure. It's easy to keep and eye on, if it leaks I'll have to find the proper adapter.

Might glue a block of rubber inside the gauge panel ... vibrates at certain rpms more than I would like, not bad, but could be better.

That looks very good thanks!

I used two thick rubber bumpers from an old shock absorber.

Good idea ... come to think of it I could slip a chunk between the back of the panel and the FEL cover.
