My 1715 has a notched arm and spring setup to prop up the hood. Connects to a bolt down by the radiator area. Trying to find it on the parts diagrams and I see nothing even close. Certainly does not appear to be something someone added since there are factory provisions for it on the hood.
Do you 1715 owners have this hood prop?
I wanted to get a new bolt for it ... looks like it should have a shoulder bolt but just has a conventional bolt instead ... so it keeps coming loose as it can't be tightened down or the prop rod won't slide in it.
Thanks.

Sounds different than my 1920.

Just use a little BLUE loctite that will keep it from vibrating out.....

I was thinking about that ... or just turning up a spacer and using loctite too. Now I'm just more curious than anything else, as to why it's not shown in the diagrams.

Here is a photo of the mystery hood prop. Attached to a bracket that was obviously an OEM part of the hood.

I have the same hood prop on a 93 F1715. Ive been having some of my own issues with it only mine is electrical. Occasionally when I open or close the hood while its running there will be sparks between the bolt on the radiator frame and the sliding prop. I also have some starting trouble and suspect they're likely related.
