1968 John Deere 400
The throttle has been getting stuck at idle. Not sure exactly how the governor functions in relation to the linkage but for a while I couldn’t throttle up from the handle but if you moved the linkage at the injection pump it would be fine for a few days and then it would get stuck again. The other day I couldn’t get it to throttle up at all. So long story shorter I took it apart and found that there’s a rack and pinion set up that pushes a rod in and out of the injection pump and controls the throttle position. The teeth on the rack were worn and damaged. I was able to find a John Deere part number T31122 Rack is the description. Does anyone know where to find a replacement for this. Not finding anything on the internet. There’s like a ton of other equipment that uses the same part but I guess because of age it may be obsolete although I read in a few places it is a common wear part on John Deere machines.
