Hi Folks,
Here is a newbie question. I am doing a rebuild on a 1978 Case 580C shuttle transmission due to slipping/not moving in forward. I have the service manual and have been following the disassembly steps. Everything was going fine right up to the point where I am supposed to remove the forward clutch cylinder and piston assembly from the ring gear. I have removed the retaining ring but I can't seem to get the cylinder out of the ring gear. The manual says this is a light press fit but I can't seem to press or drive the cylinder out. I am trying to be careful since a new ring gear isn't cheap. I have tried to drive the cylinder out from the bottom (the side opposite the clutch spring). Am I missing some key trick? Thanks for any help you might have.
Eric
