1979 John deere 301a not going into forward

Smoking gun found (I believe ) the seals look pretty bad and note the rust around the inner lip.

The center bushing is worn to the copper. I am not sure what the spec is for this, or if the wear is acceptable, or replacement needed. Something to consider while it is apart.

I can see the old seal material needed to be cleaned but if it is smooth now I would stop sanding. The smaller the diameter the better I would think?

Update, parts on order and will be here Tuesday. If all goes well, should be up and running Tuesday/wednesday

Be careful it may take off forward so fast you could get whip lash.

Update: one of the seals they sent was incorrect but we figured out what happened and the correct one should be here Friday

Update: replaced the seals in the clutch pack this morning, put the forward clutch pack back together and reassembled the tractor. Runs like a champ!

Thanks, I'll give it some fresh paint in the spring, and will be installing the sunshade with-in the next couple days
