2007 Branson 3510
Hello All,

I just recently purchased a 2007 Branson 3510(I) shuttle shift, and am worried about how loose the shuttle shift lever is. I don't have any issues with it going in and out of reverse, but I have to hold the lever in the middle of the column for it to shift. Once I let loose of the handle it falls. Is there supposed to be so much vertical play in the handle? I would estimate 1 1/2" to 2". It also seems like there is a piece broken off the back of it, or maybe it's rough from where the rear handle is worn.

Hi,

Originally, you were supposed to lift the lever and move it either forward or reverse. However, looks like the previous owner didn't actually understand the concept of it and has been forcing so much that it pretty much wore out that plate behind the lever.

Looks like the tractor has about 1200 hours, so you can imagine how many times that lever gets moved.

Here is a picture from the parts catalog, it's for a 3820 but it's very similar. A little bit hard to tell but note the shape of that plate.

Also, if you follow the linkage down, there are some roll pins. It's common for these to wear out and add a bunch of play to the linkage, making it hard to shift.

After reviewing the schematic I would have to agree it's just been incorrectly shifted...the worst part is I've looked and called a few local dealers and no replacement parts are in stock. Guess I'll have to live with it or try and weld in a replacement plate...

It looks like the detent in the top plate relates only to nuetral....then the spring holds pressure against the flat portion of the plate in F and R. Can anyone confirm this is the correct operation?

I believe that is the operation. I checked mine the other day but I forgot to report back to you. The good thing is that section can be removed and a welder can easily restore those surfaces in green💚 if they are worn. Maybe the roll pin or barrel is worn and all that is required is replacement of the pin or sleeve the barrel.

I had basically the same problem with my 08 2910i. I got luckie and found a used shift linkage at a local salvage yard.
