Ok Tundra owners, looking for reviews on the 2014 to present Tundra Double Cab 5.7 4x4. Love my 2011 Sierra 4.8 but will not be buying another 1500 from the General. I want nothing to do with AFM or EPS and don't need a 2500HD. Toyota does not use either AFM or EPS, and that is huge in my eyes. I love the 4:30 gearing 5.7 combo too.

Pics and reviews welcome.

I have a 2015 double cab with the TRD package, 5.7 engine. I only have about 8500 miles on it. So far, I am very satisfied. It is tremendously more powerful than my 2004 with the 4.7. I average around 15mpg. That is an average of mostly short trips, some towing a 4,000 lb trailer in the summer and using 4wd in the winter-that's about 1mpg less than the 2004.

I'll just add that not having AFM is one reason I stuck with Toyota. Test drove a GMC Z71-that was nice truck, but I am nervous about technology like that. Intend to keep trucks 8-10 years and did not want to repair that technology.

I haven't owned one that new yet,
but I have owned 5 tundras, 01,05,07,10, and now a 13, with the last 3 being the 5.7 double cabs. never any problems with any of them except for
brakes and tires. (did front brakes today as a matter of fact, i think 150 in parts and about an hour of my time)
love the power, the ride, the quiet, and just overall quality.

I have the 5.7 in a Land cruiser and it's dead nuts reliable. The princess drives a lot in Wyoming, I never worry about her not making it.

Toyota needs to put the 8 speed transmission in the trundra though. Sometimes Toyota gets too conservative in the evolution of there products.

I have an '07, so I can not speak to the 14+. Mine has been very reliable, has about 160k, is a 5.7 4x4 double cab 8' bed.

I wish they would build a 10k gvw model...

Thank you. This is great to hear. Most likely I will buy a lease return, which does not bother me at all.

Keep the posts/pics coming.

I have a 2011 5.7 currently. I've also had an 04 Sequoia, 07 Tundra 4.7 and a 2010 5.7.

The 5.7 powertrain hasn't changed, so the pre-14 user experience still applies.

The 5.7 is a fantastic engine. For towing power, it provides a great experience and tows every very bit as well as my Ford v10 SuperDuty's.

If I was buying a used 1/2 ton truck as a daily driver, I'd personally only look for a Toyota Tundra based on the excellent reliability, durability, and quality of construction. Our 2011 has appointed 80k miles and is problem free, no rattles, all of the interior trim pieces still line up well.

AFM or EPS??? Say what?

OK, I got eps. But not AFM.
AFM is GM's cylinder deactivation called Active Fuel Management. Still a gimmick with no real savings. But can turn in to a nightmare and consume/burn oil.

EPS is Electronic Power Steering.
