2017 kubota L3901 HST
So right now I have a 2015 kubota L3901DT and love the tractor overall but clutching while trying to do loader and PTO work is a pain in the rear. I originally bought the DT gear drive because at the time I had a bad hip which made it extremely uncomfortable to use the treadle peddle on the HST tractor. Anyway long story short that's no longer the case and now after 382 hours I'm seriously looking at upgrading to a new 2017 L3901HST TLB. Dealer quoted me at $35,705 for L3901 HST tractor with loaded R1 tires, LA525 loader and BH77 backhoe and $17,900 for my trade value. Does this seem like a good deal?

Price on the new tractor comes in around 34k on the Kubota build site, but double check as I may have missed something that you are including. You should expect to get a discount off the MSRP. Did you buy from the same dealer the last time?

Yup same dealer. I'll look again at the kubota site and I plan to negotiate as much as possible

For that kind of money, even with a BH, I think you are not gaining that much capability.

Your right, I'm not Really gaining any more capabilities by switching tractors. Mostly just ease of operation by switching to an HST 3901 over my older geared 3901. I planned on getting the backhoe at some point anyway but at least now I'll have a newer tractor again that hopefully the wife will be comfortable driving and all my original implements will still work/fit. I seriously looked at the L4701, MX5800 and M5660 tractors as upgrades because of the demands of road maintenance and snow removal that I've taken on but at the end of the day costs and wanting a backhoe ended up being the deciding factor.

Sounds high to me. Price should be around 85% of build it price on Kubota site plus any rebates. The backhoe and loader qualify for $1000 rebate I think. The tractor probaly has a $500 to $1000 rebate as well

Have you considered a used machine? I've seen MX5100 with low hours (like 300) with BH92 backhoe for around $29k to $33k. BTW, the first time I tried out an HST machine I thought it was sort of "weird", but I bought one and quickly came to love the HST for most or all purposes.

That's the out the door price. Taxes and the kubota insurance jacked up the price considerably. I do t have the quote right in front of me but the Actual price before Maine taxes, kubota insurance and all the other fees was around $32 thousand.

I ve been constantly searching dealers used lots and Craigslist for a nice used machine but no luck finding what I wanted and the couple times I did find a nice machine in my price range it was already pending sale. Plus honestly there isn't much savings over buying new esspecially with the insterest rates on a loan for a used machine compared to kubotas 0.17% interest rate that I got. I'm sure I probably could have gotten a slightly better deal had I been willing to drive a few hours to New Hampshire plus I could have saved a few thousand bucks in taxes but this dealer is only 30 minutes away and has treated me well with the previous tractor I bought there.

Looking back over the numbers the actual tractor cost was just under $31,900. Add in almost $2800 for insurance, over $900 in sales tax and almost another $200 in doc fees and yea the price jumps a lot unfortunately.
