2040 PTO clutch not dis-engaging fully

This parts photo came out of a JD 2120 parts catalog #4164. Title of page is:INDEPENDENT PTO (540 RPM). Please explain without a pto rear disconnect lever/collar what transmits(JOINS) power from shaft(parts key#1) to shaft(parts key #13)???????????? After doing some more research in parts catalogs I do think some of the later model 40 series utility tractors did away(eliminated) with the disconnect lever for ind pto.

Without any question whatsoever the quoted statement is incorrect.

Remove coverplate over gearlevers and clean housing that holds the gearlevers .....if there is another lever between the gearlevers it is the IPTO lever ! Then you have a hidraulic problem ......low press sisteem .

All 2040's I've seen have a pto disconnect lever by left heel while seating in the seat irregardless if it is IPTO or dual stage clutch

You'll be happy to know that after some research of parts catalogs I found a few tractor moels that didn't have the pto disconnect by operators left heel but it was "very few" compared to total number of JD utility tractors of that era.
