JD 2210
I would like to add some work light's to my 2210 so I thought about upgrading the alternator. I went on JD Parts and the part number for the 20 amp alternator for the 2210 is the same for the 2305. So my question is will the 35 amp alternator for the 2305 bolt up to the 2210 with out any trouble?

Does the 2210 have the V76 Yanmar engine?

If so I would bet the AM877740 alternator will work fine? 40 amps

Remember to check the wire gauge from the alternator and upgrade it too if necessary. If you double the alternator output and the wiring can't handle it your tractor could go up in smoke. If you find a higher output one that fits I'd be curious to know. The 20 amp unit is only running the existing lights and the pto clutch. It should handle a bit better than 250 watts lighting load or 4 standard halogen lights. 20 amps may be a cold rating so it might not be all of that in the summer heat when the tractor is warm.

The dealer installed 2 extra work lights on the back of my 2210 and didn't have to upgade the alternator?

Well on my stock 20A alternator, I am running all the factory lights, the deere single rear work light, and a pair of 55W halogen fog lights mounted down low on the front so I can see under the loader bucket. Thats probably 5x55w or about 275+ watts load. In addition you may have the lights on the rops running and the instrument lights and the e-pto (but that is a high intermittent load, with low constant draw). 20A at 12v gives you 240w of capacity. So I may be drawing a little more from the battery than the alternator is replacing, but after running like this for 5 hrs in the dark last weekend, no ill effects and my charging light did not come on.

I've added a rear work light and two ROPS-mounted forward-facing 55W lights on my 2210 and run everything when plowing snow, with no ill effects. I wired up the ROPS lights separately thinking I would have to conserve my 20 amps but no problems so far.

I have added 2 cab lights and a rear work light along with a cab heater. I have an ND 50 amp internally excited alternator from a reefer unit that I will be installing on my 2210 as soon as my technical manual cd arrives. The alternator bolts up to the engine using the existing brackets and belt. Looks like the wiring is the only changes needed..

On my stock alternator, and off of the plug in the rear, I am running two fixed ROPS mounted JD work lights, and 1 magnetic mount work light--usually faces rearward, but can easily be turned in whatever direction I need. I've used like this through two winters, and have seen no issues with charging etc.

I have a 2210 and the bvattery won't charge I have already changed the voltage regulator. What should i check before i spend a lot of money changing parts I don't need?

Can't answer your specificate question about the 2305; however, I looked at the same issue on my 2210. The problem seems to come with the seperate votlage regulator (under the column or so...I have a tech manual if you need it). If you search around the interenet there are three common solutions:
1) but the high output alternate from mother deere for $500 dollars 2) put in a generic delco alternater with some customer wiring and voltage regulator and make your own mounting bracket...a little work but then you can have alterantors for $50 forever ...3) By the car one that fits....I can't remember; I think the alternators for yanmar are made by hatachi who makes auto ones also and the Datsun 210 frrom some year is a direct bolt on high output....

Sorry I don't have all the direct information but I think it is all out there. After running the loads my only problem was if I was running the front headlights and front rops lights and rear lights for a long period of time. I just put a toggle in so I either had the factory headlights or the rops fwd lights but not both so no loader=headlights, loader=rops lights.
