2210 Cab choices?

I just finished blowing snow for 2 driveways in a 30 MPH wind. I love the blower but I would like more protection from the wind and snow. I know that Kozy Cab and Curtis both make units for the 2210. The softside Curtis is $1,600 and I can't find a price on the Kozy. I have a few questions before I spring for one of these.

1) Does anyone know of any other sources for cabs for a 2210?

2) Does anyone know the price of a Kozy Cab softside unit?

3) Are there any discount sources for cabs on the I-net? (So far my searches have come up empty.)

4) Who makes the best cab - Kozy, Curtis, or ???

5) What should I watch out for when shopping for cabs?

djsch, if you are looking for a less expensive cab, look at the original tractor cab company at Original Tractor Cab . i just got mine a few weeks ago and it only took 2 hours to install. it's not a top of the line cab, but it does protect you from the elements.

Thanks for the tip! I had looked there but didn't look deep enough. It looks like just what I'm looking for. Did you buy it direct or is there a discount outlet somewhere?

I put a Curtis softside on my 2210. I shopped and decided, yeah..it's pricey..but very solid. Plus it included the electric windshield wiper (a necessity) and a very heavy glass windshield that opens for ventilation. I think the shipping weight was around 300lbs.

I have a soft cab for a Craftsman tractor that I gave $400 for 5 years ago and it is flimsy. Clamp-on tube frame and soft curtains all around. The Curtis is 5 times that setup.

The doors pop off the hinges easily and the rear curtain is velcro'd. Handy for operating the sander lever and having just roof/windshield cover in the summer.

Get what you pay for.

I do not know how much you want to spend, but I used a golf cart cover for my BX, was about $125. Worked great last winter. Maybe an option until you find the one you realy want /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Dave, i did by the cab direct from Original Cab and they did ship ups to me at work. the cab does have a plastic top that bolts onto a frame, the rest is all vinyl that wraps around the frame and snaps together. the doors do lift off somewhat easily. the frame is all tube that bolts together and no drilling on my 790. if you want any close up pictures, let me know and i can snap a few this weekend.

Thanks for the picture Rick. Nice looking rig! Original is supposed to be sending me pictures of the 2210 cab. If I get them I'll try to post them. Meanwhile, any pictures you would be willing to share would be appreciated. Did you have to drill holes etc to mount it? Did you get the lexan windshield or the safety glass and the wiper? Original suggested the safety glass and the wiper if I was going to run more than 30 minutes at a time. Since I do that regularly, I'm concerned. I'm wondering why the operating time makes a difference? (I've asked them the question and hope for an answer today). Do you have problems with the windshield fogging up or frosting over? Do you have any problems with material freezing to the outside?

Rick - I'd also appreciate seeing a couple of closeups, especially how it attaches to the 790. Do you think the Top is substantial enough to hold two lights that are currently attached to my ROPS (see pix)?

I understand you need to buy the Safety Glass Windshield if you want to use a wiper (Lexan windshield scratches). Which windshield (and wiper) did you buy?

Dave and Mountain Man, for now I just got the lexan windshield, after thinking about it, I may get the safety glass windshield and hand wiper. This is the first season I have had it and no snow yet to see if it fogs up. I have noticed when I was using it the other day moving implements around and getting ready for winter the rear lexan window would fog up a little bit from being turned around while lining up to the implement. I did notice after awhile being in the cab, it was a little warmer than outside, I wounder if the combination of the heat from the tractor and you in the cab affect fogging ? Also I don't know if the matierial will freeze to the tractor yet, if we ever get enough snow to play or work in, I will find out.

For the mounting it went pretty easy, no holes to drill for the brackets on the fenders or floorboards . I did run into one problem where the window supports mount under the hood. They said to unbolt the rear side panel mount and use a longer bolt to mount the support. That would have been ok if my rear mount were bolted on instead of welded on, but the hole was there. So I found a couple rubber well nuts and drilled the holes alittle bigger and installed the well nuts and mounted the brackets with no problems. I'll post some pics next time I'm home in the daylight, hopefully this weekend.
I will also look at the top about the light mounting also.
