2240 Hydraulics bleeding off

Ok, that makes sense. Do i need to have the cylinder fully extended to do this? Theres not going to be a lot of pressure on the hose when i take it off is there?

Fully extended or retracted is fine but the direction determines which hose needs to be removed.

You can disconnect hose from end of cylinder that piston has fully traveled, leave orifice open, apply hyd pressure to other end of cyl & if piston packing(seal) has failed oil will exit open orifice.

Sounds like a better way of texting the cylinder.

This is the easiest to understand double acting cylinder test I have seen.

May I ask you what your opinion is if a failed FEL boom cylinder piston packing will or will not allow the boom to settle if hyd valve isn't leaking?
Thanks,Jim
