Well, to be honest, I checked all the past threads on the subject, and got dizzy and confused. I wan't to find a 3pt trailer hitch set-up that has the standard 2" receiver on it, but $200 is a little steep from NT&E. I do not have a welder (someday) so a purchase is probably my current option. In a nutshell, what is the cheapest option everyone has found to purchase one of these critters? Thanks.

Hi...

Just used the receiver hitch I bought from Bad River (link in previous post) this week... quality unit... prompt delivery... works well...

Is there some reason why you can't put a 2" ball in the drawbar and not use the 3pt? Do you end up needing the hight adjustment? I was wondering that myself.

It would depend on the trailer but basically tractor drawbars don't stick out past the back of the wheels, thus when you turn a corner the trailer hits the tractor wheels. Not good.

My drawbar slides in & out (secured by a pin) allowing it to come our far enough to pull trailers without a problem. If I were hooking up to tailers a lot, I'd want the 3 pt hitch because it is easier to hook up to the trailer and you have the ability to raise & lower it.

How about one of those bars with the holes in it you can get for the draft arms? They work good and are 20 bucks. They also work with clevises and other connections. You will need a ball with a smaller shank (7/8") that is readily available at any farm store.

If you are going to be towing on hills you might want to rig a connection from the tractor drawbar to the draft arms with a piece of chain so it doesn't lift.

reciever plates are redly available and can be bought at any trailer sales place as well as locally our tcs has them. then you can bolt up the items needed to make a 3 pt one, and if you already have a multi hole job then just bolt it to that and you have the hitch...

though I made one and have a simple ball hole on it, but am looking for an old used reciever hitch form a pickup, and will weld on a vertical top link mount and pin plates to each end for the 3 pt arms and will ahve the ready made one...

Hey Guys...

Around June 1, we will be offering a very reasonably priced hitch connector that attaches to your horizontal drawbar. So, if you're considering buying one, I'd urge you to wait a few more days to see what we'll be offering. /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

3PH trailer hitches are OK depending on what you are hauling. If you are moving your boat or camper around the driveway, maybe OK. If you are hauling a cord of wood, uh-uh. Remember that most 3PH's don't have down pressure. What happens if you have a big load and you stop quickly? The tongue of the trailer pushes upward on your hitch and messes up your center of gravity. What happens when you are making a turn or are on a hill when you stop quickly? Hope you have a ROPS and a seatbelt because you may be going for a ride!!! I have seen it happen and it sure ain't pretty.
