3 pt firewood carrier/carry-all

After weekend in the woods carrying my saws, log chains, gas, etc on the floor of my tractor I got a notion to build something.

Here's my thought:

Lower would be something like a 60" wide by 30"tall by 24" deep log rack. Probably self cleaning floor like angle iron ^ cross braces. An alternat thought would be to use something like a skid steer skeleton rock bucket with a straight back. This would make it multi purpose.

Upper would be set up to carry saws, gas, 5 gallon pails, etc. Off the side I could hang my chains, maybe add a tool holder (shovel/lopper etc)

Anyone ever design/build such an animal?

I have such a critter, Make sure you make the front solid.As to keep firewood from falling forward. I have a receiver on mine so I can tow my splitter to the woods. It holds about a half rick.So it is great for when I go out by myself. I do not find any photos of it.Sorry It is pretty simple. just a platform with a front

Yep that's me.

One thought that I had was to use a pallet fork setup and then build portable racks that I could load in the woods, transport etc. I'd then make an overhead rack setup on the frame of the fork apparatus.

You may also want to build it so that you can drop in some verticle square tube to keep stuff from falling off the back. You should be able to haul 1500# of wood on the 3pt.

Here's mine, made from a TSC carryall. I used unistrut for the floor and back to let the wood debris fall out. I also put a 1-7/8" ball on the back to pull the woodsplitter. Works well for what I use it for.

Bill,
Is the wood carrying part bolted to the TSC carryall in two of those photos? Those look like you used a pallet and framed it. Then in the middle photo showing the trailer ball it has sides to it and it looks like one unit now? Did you modify it to make it like that then?
I was hoping to see your Pontiac in that giant barn of yours too.

Rob, I have two separate carryalls. I made the first one and found I had uses for another one. I use one like pallet forks, I drilled it so I can put a ball on it to pull the wood splitter. there is enought fork sticking out the back that I could attach a ball on it. I added about a foot to each side to make it long enough for a pallet.

I have a very nice set of JD Worksite Pro pallet forks with skid steer attach that i use on my loader. My present train of thought is to use these on the rear. Since I can't find any 3pt to skid steer carrier adapters (they all go the opposite way) it looks like I'll be welding brackets and using my Imatch.

I plan to build some 60" long wood storage racks and set up so that I can carry/capture on the forks. Stack them full in the woods right on the forks and away I go.

Then I plan to add a removeable rack to the back screen of the forks so I can carry my saws and gear...
