Hi. I have just started taking off my Great Bend Backhoe for the first time since I aquired my DK35. I see some things on the 3Pt. Hitch I haven't seen before on older tractors I have had some experience with.
(1) What are the lever looking devices on the hitch arms?
(2) The hitch pins did not have any keepers, cotter pins or other devices to keep the pins in. The pins were striaght pins with an approximate 45 degree angle lenght of 2 inches that was on the outside. Is this arrangement normal and OK, apparently the installation works well,,, I think it had been on the tractor for the past 2 years....
(3) On these angled pins...what is the best way to remove from the arm holes???? Then any tricks to put back in...

Thanks for any insight you can throw my way...

Sounds like some improvision on the pins...they should have a clip. Sheeze, i have even managed to loose the ones with the locking loop type of cotter, but found it a year later on a wheeler trail up in the woods(the pin, not the cotter)....what were those odds? :D Got any pic's of the set up...?

Hmmm, hitch pins eh? Lots of "hitch " pins but I think maybe you mean the 3ph arm stabilizer pins. These are the only ones I have seen without a retainer. They are gold in color and drop into one of several holes from above to allow adjustment in the spread between the lower arms. Mine had chains to keep them with the tractor but nothing to keep them in the hole except gravity.

Ahh, Hb, you may be right, that may be what he is talking about. I even lost one of those after forgeting to re-pin it and the tire pinched, breaking the chain. I'm thinking of a drop down placard on the sunroof kinda like a take-off checklist for an airplane.........:D I thought memory loss started after 50........

I thought there might be some problems with my terminology of some of the basic components....Since I am unfamiliar with these pieces, I took a SWAG, but apparently the hitch pins were not the right word. The first two pictures are the connection pins that held the backhoe on the 3Pt Hitch arms. You can see from the 2nd pic that there is a hole for a wire key/clip..Not sure what the proper termininolgy is,,but there was none there... The Pins were tight and I had to drive them out and play with the outriggers to finally get them out....

Like I said this is the first time I have taken the Backhoe off, so all the stuff associated with the 3Pt hitch is the first look I have had at it....

I asked about the "Lever looking devices" on the Hitch arms... After I got the hoe off...I figured out what they do... Still don't know the official name, but there in the 3rd Pic.

Anyway...Thanks for all the help...my wife says I'm Fixated (whatever that means) on this site... The truth is, if you don't know how some things work,,,this is a great place to find out,,,hopefully before you make a costly mistake.....

Thanks again..

The links on the lower 3 point are called a "telescopic lower links"
They are used to make hooking up attachments eaiser, make sure they are retracted before using you 3 pt. attachment.

The pins that hold you backhoe to the lower links are called bent hitch pins and they are supposed to have hair pins in the little holes to hold them in.

There are certainly worse things one could be "fixated" on!:D :D

Jeff, Rick Wallace has given you all the correct terminology and what the parts do. Don't worry. You'll be able to go to a parts store and rattle off a part name in no time. :D
I'd consider cleaning the mounting holes and bent hitch pins so it's easier to attach and remove the bh. But if you do that, pick up two hair pins so the bent pins don't unexpectedly fly out while traveling over bumpy ground.
As far as being fixated, don't worry. Someone here can help you out and remember, a picture is worth a thousand words. Yours cleared up everything.

Did you get a manual or visit the Kioti website? Those are always good places to find out stuff about your tractor. Yeah, I know about men and directions but in time you'll find out they are good reference material........... :D
