Kubota mx5400
I have had a Kubota MX5400 for about 1 and a half years. 90 hrs, just play on weekends. Last fall I noticed a kind of clattering noise which seems to occur when I fully open the 3rd function. At first I thought it was my grapple but the same noise occurs with my tree puller. Hard to isolate where the noise is coming from but it sounds like it is “out front” on the tractor. when it starts, I simply hit the close switch slightly and it stops. It started in the fall, then it seemed to stop but has now started again. I have attemted to attach a video. The noise, while not terribly loud, can be heard about 9 secs into the video. What I am trying to decide is, am I tearing something up and do I need to get the tractor guy to come pick it up and take it into the shop to investigate.
thank you

It is hard to tell what is causing it from the video. I think that if it only happens when you lock it hard in one direction just release it a bit and move on.

I would not want to lock it hard and leave it anyway. JMO

There needs to be a relief valve somewhere that is opening when the grapple lids reach full travel. If it's not on the 3rd function valve then maybe the loader valve relief opens? That's something I have been wondering which maybe someone with more hydraulic knowledge can answer: does the relief valve on the loader protect all the circuits of the hydraulic system, just some, or only the loader circuits?

The relief valves on my tractor make a quiet high pitched whine. The grinding noise in the video is different. It does not sound good. Unfortunately there's no way to avoid at least a little time with the 3rd function cylinders at their stops.

In the video it doesnt look like it happens at either extreme, rather it is midway when lid is opening. And when it happens, lid stops, when chatter stops lid starts moving again. Is that accurate?

Is this a TRUE 3rd function? If so is it electric solenoid or mechanical valve? Or is it a diverter?

Pictures of the valve and hose routing would help
