3x16's PLOWING WITH 5530 4wd Turbo

For any of you 5530 operators what is the max number of bottoms you plow with? Last weekend I got my Ford- Dearborn 10-209 with 3x16's setup. The land had not been tilled in 15 years and was not sure what to expect. What an easy pull that has been for the Mahindra, 3rd gear low range and at 2400 rpm, 4wd engaged, plowing 8" deep and the draft control maintained that depth. It's been a long time since I plowed (45yrs ago). I could not tell when looking at the finished field the number of bottoms used. Proud of myself as I treat plowing as an art form. Next time I'll take some photos to back up my statement.

What the ..... hadn't seen that one. A waste of fuel unless it was to break up the top 6'+ soil for the beginning of a strip mine! I'll stick to what I have.

It's glacial silt. The stuff blew in over time - 2 million years. Interesting read how that came about.

I did some googling to try to find the answer, and I came... right back to TBN. Here is a thread discussing deep tillage.
