I put the 6000 in for the 50 hr service (have about 85 hrs on it). I've changed the oil twice so told them not to do that. Dealer picked it up Monday. I talked to them today and it's ready save for 2 bolts (metric thread) which apparently go underneath the tractor somewhere. They were looking over the county to find them when I talked to them today. I had a little warranty work done as well. I noticed about 2 months ago that the power steering resevoir seemed to be leaking from the top part (where the dipstick is). Runs down the outside of the resevoir and down the side of the engine. Not much but took about a pint to refill it after 60 or so hours. I called the dealer. I figured they would get the new "O" ring that is in there and we could fix it. He got a whole new resevoir! They put it on as well. Had the fuel filters changed out and the regular go over the tractor. Don't know what I'll get charged for the service but they told me that I "would n't have to rob a bank".... Wonder what that means?? Anyone had a 50 service on their 4500/5500/6000 yet??? If I'm the first I'll post the results. I probably will get it delivered back on Sat morning. Sorry for the long post....BobG in VA

Dealer came and serviced mine here for $120. Oil and filter, fuel filters, hydraulic filters and oil, grease job. Kind of puzzled though, I got charged for 11 qts of oil, thought they only held 8? Think it could hurt if there is 3 extra qts of oil in there? Check the stick and it's just a little above the full mark not much.
By the way it took forever for him to get the oil in too. He said there is no trick.

Re: Missing bolts

I was under my 4500 4WD looking things over and noticed two bolts missing from the fabricated metal platform (made from 5/8" and 1/2" steel, I believe) that the lower links connect to that is bolted to the bottom of the tractor. There are six bolts total; four small and two large ones. One small and one large bolt, each on the opposite side, were missing. My dealer advised me that they weren't necessary, but were used if another attachment--back hoe in particular---was attached to the tractor. It is interesting---and somewhat discomforting----that your dealer advises you that they are in fact missing. And if this is true, they are missing on at least two tractors---what about others? How about the rest of you out there with 4500-5500-6000 tractors; missing any bolts in this area?

$120 for the service with oil change is very reasonable. The actual amount called for for a change is 9 quarts with filter. When you do that it puts the oil level dead in the center between the 2 dipstick marks. You may want to stick a suction pump (looks like the body of a grease gun with with a clear plastic tube where the zerk end would go) and pull out about a quart thru the dipstick hole, as usually if you overfill, it will foam the oil. My $.02 worth. You still got that 6000??? New thread. I personally think you should keep it rather than getting a 4110. I think you'd miss the "grunt" at low rpms that the 6000 has. BobG in VA

BobG... how are you liking the 6000? I've narrowed my search for a new tractor to the MF 451 or the Mahindra 5500...I believe the 5500 and the 6000 are about the same weight and dimensions and don't appear to be much bigger than the 4500. Have'nt priced the 5500 or 6000, but I can get a 4500 4WD for about $14,500.

Poncho: as anyone on this list that has one will tell you the the "00" series Mahindras are no nonsense heavy duty Ag tractors. All share the same frame however, as you know the 4500 has a 3 cyl engine. I originally was looking at a 4500 but the dealer had the 6000 on the lot and made me a great deal so I bought it. I originally thought "What the heck am i gonna' do with all that tractor?" Trust me, I've found lotsa' things to do with it. Would not go back now to the 4500 if it was offered. I would suggest that whatever you get, go ahead and get the wheelbarrow with it (I think folks here call it a FEL). 4WD is the only way to go. Had a couple of early hour things that I had to fix, but anticipate such things with all new toys. Nothing of any consequence (just had the Power Steering resevoir changed out due to "O" ring leak. I had it back in 2 days with the 50 hour service (WoW, they cleaned it tooo!!) Good luck on your choice. If you can afford it, get the loader and the biggest you deal with, you won't be sorry. I now believe those two bolts are used to help secure a BH (Bradco). If you don't have one on, you probably don't have the bolts. I now have the bolts, but no BH.......yet. BobG in VA

BobG... thanks for the info. The 5500 & 6000 are basically the same except for engine? They had a 6500 4WD beside the 5500.... man that was a tractor, it was huge! I definately want the FEL set-up so I can get a bale spear for stacking rolls of hay... something I can't do with the spear hanging off the back.... already got a list of stuff a mile long to use the bucket on.

It's been a while since I posted on the maintenance, but just today got the bill for the serivce/pickup-delivery/and the warranty work. Total came to $14.56 for the 2 fuel filters. No Joke!! My dealer is a tad forgetfull so I will go by there this weekend to pay them and make sure this is it (I think it is though). They are great people. The owner would be the first to tell you that you aren't buying equipment, you are sinking your trust in the man that sold it to you. Nuff said about that.
BobG in VA who is very happy with his 6000 4WD/w wheelbarrow and his dealer.
