5.56 ammo

I like the lake city surplus 5.56 if I was looking at buying some.

9MM is a lot cheaper than .223 when I look it up. I shoot Winchester 9MM 115 gr FMJ 100 rounds in the white box, $27 at Cheaper Than Dirt in Fort Worth. Winchester .223 is anywhere from $18-25 for 20 rounds. We shot the Winchester white box as a duty round, hardly ever had a misfire or a misfeed and it is as accurate as more expensive rounds. The 9MM 115 gr FMJ is 1190 FPS which is adequate for any handgun or my AR15. I shoot the Winchester ammo in my Glocks, in 40 S&W and in .357 Sig and in my 9MM S&W Model 908. I am still shooting Winchester 9MM that I bought at $5/50 rounds that I bought years ago but at that price I bought it by the case. When I retired in 2002 I had several 1000 rounds of 9MM stored up.

$3.29 in 2004 =$15.00 in 2012? It's not quite that bad. But I do get annoyed when some Gobment fool talks about there being really low core inflation if you discount food ,fuel and housing. Apparently they live in a world where there is money left after you have paid for the food fuel and housing. Wish I lived there.

Exactly. I was making a small joke, but inflation is real, and the numbers that exclude food, fuel and housing are ridiculous... (and meaningless I believe).

I bought 3 - 1640 rd cases of Brazilian 5.56 55gr for about $240 a case back in the early 90's. Boy now I wish I had bought more when the gettin was good. Still have all but maybe 600rds of that that I shot up so still sitting good on 5.56 for now.

now that i relaod I rarely buy ammo anymore. unless i need some virgin brass of hard to find calibers. IE.. 375 H&H, 300 weatherby mag, 25-07 7mm rem mag.. 416 rigby.. etc. for those.. it's hard to find virgin brass.. so buying some commercial loads.. a few boxes anyway.. at least gives you some brass to work with.

I have always bought 5.56 ammo rather than reloading, but at these prices I may start, as I already have the dies.
