if you got the brass and dies.. it's way cheaper to reload.

the larger the cartridge.. the more $$ you sate.

I shoot 416 rigby.. that can cost 100-150$ per 20 cartridges commercially. once I got brass.. that price dropped to some magnum primers, powder charge and projectiles. probably not a $ a cartridge... down from 5-8$ per depending upon shipping..e tc..

Yeah, I've loaded for years and even use to cast my own, but use to prefer to buy 5.56 in bulk as I have grown tired of reloading.

i thought about casting.. but since 90% of what i shoot is rifle and not pistol.. I'd have to gascheck everything for high fps.. and ddin't feel like it..

Reloading is time consuming. But depending on the application and price dictates weather I reload or not.

I have a 5.56 for a varmint rifle. Accuracy is the most important thing. Winchester supremes shoot really well in my gun but are $15-$18 a box. And that was a few years ago. I load the same as them. Winchester/nosler CT bullet, and varget powder. My cost is under $5 a box. And since I dont just go plinking, and maybe use two boxes a year, it is worthwhile to reload for accuracy.

Now if I was just backyard plinking and burning 1000+ rounds in a year, I'd probabally buy bulk. I do alot of plinking with the 9mm. It just isnt worth the time to reload IMO. But anymore, with ammo prices and the amount of time it takes to reload, when plinking just for fin I try to stick with the .22LR. WAY more affordable.

Yeah that makes a difference as I have always shot more pistol/revolver than rifles and all I gas checked was some .44 Mag loads. I use to get the lead free in wheel weights then add a bit of tin and was good to go.

imr4064 is a really good powder. Its the best that dad has found for his 22-250 as far as accuracy is concerned

My wife and both sons shoot .308 in their rifles, so I use to load for them, but I would have to check my load data, I think I used a 168 gr Sierra Game King, but I'm not sure as I also loaded 7 MM Mag and .243. My son was a firearms instructor for a while and got a bunch of .308 match ammo for his sniper rifle, based on the 700, so I haven't loaded them in a while.

imr 4064 is my most used powder. I love it.. it's a stick powder as you know.. so it gets a lil cutting action on a powder thrower that I don't like.. i like a ball powder for a thrower better.. but I can hand charge 4064 fine...
