Today I did my 50hr filter and oil change. Well after draining the oil and using the screw driver trick to get the oil filter off I replaced the oil filter and filled the BX25D with oil. Next was removing the skid plate underneath and I replaced the HST filter. Then came the diesel inline filters. Has anyone figured out how to keep from taking a bath in diesel? I was thinking next time to put a inline fuel cut off. Any ideas?

A pair of Vicegrip pliers, gently pinching the line upstream is the trick

Hose clamp pliers. Be careful with vice grips and try to use something in between, like small flat pieces of wood.

Vice grips but see if you can find the long-nosed (needle nosed) style. Harbor Freight has them for cheap.

Putting something over the jaws like Deano suggests will better protect the hose from damage. But, I haven't used anything for a buffer and those hoses are pretty stout so haven't seen any damage.

Hmmm...just had a thought. How about grinding the jaws of a cheap needle nosed vice grip style into two cylinders. There's my next project. My brilliance amazes me at times.:silly: :rotfl:

Wrap electrical tape around the jaws and only clamp enough to stop the flow of diesel and you'll be fine.

Great advice from everyone.....I used vice grips and adjusted them just enough to stop the flow and used a rag wrapped around the fuel lines to protect them. worked like a charm!:smurf:

Maybe I'm missing something or not understanding correctly, but my BX25 manual has the fuel filters checked every 100 hours and replaced at 500 hours. Why are you changing them out so early? They should still be like new unless you got a bad batch of diesel fuel. Don't throw the ones you removed away. Empty them and at least keep them for future use in case you do have an emergency need for a replacement filter.
