Oil & Fuel 50 Hour Service

The B2920 is getting close to the 50 hour service. I thought it would be easy as I would not be the first doing this. Well I searched the "50 hour service" and when reading through the posts it is not as cut and dried as I would have thought. So to the service manual and it only has the engine oil, filter , tran filter, grease. That seems a little slack as the posts were doing more.
So what is normal to do at 50 hours. I will change everything but if that is just being **** I will just do what is needed.

The owner's manual has a chart to tell you what's needed. It's a pretty simple service as you surmised, though you also need to torque wheel nuts/bolts and front loader frame nuts/bolts if you have a front loader (see the separate loader owner's manual for that info).

Change hydro filter only, not fluid, at 50 hrs. There are a few tricks you can use to minimize spills when changing the hydro filter. I like parking the tractor sideways on a hill, with the filter uphill. Barely spilled any.

Do what owners manual says. Engine oil, engine oil filter and one (I think only one) of the hyd filters which on my B only lost the fluid that was in the filter on level ground. I never have torqued any bolts but not saying one shouldn't do it. I guess I would do that before 50 hours if I was going to do it.

I would change the engine oil and filter and only the hydro filters. Don't mess with the fuel filter, air filter or steering fluid. And when you grease, be sure to hit the zerk for the directional pedal. It's also a good time to check the torque of nutz and bolts for looseness and tire air pressure.

I just thought that I would add, don't be surprised to find a lot of machining shavings on the lip of the hydraulic filter. This is absolutely normal. I would say this is the main reason behind the 50hr filter service, as during the manufacture, it doesn't all get cleaned out due to the accessibility to some channels which are cut. Also, to keep from losing too much hydro fluid, I use the house vacuum to pull a little suction on the fill port located near my 3ph. Just be careful, if you suck too much, the wife won't be happy!

Did the 50 hr maintence on L3800 but waited til 100 hrs on hydro filter. It had a magnetic ring with metal shavings attached. checked the FIL big bolts and a couple of them were't tight enough. I also grease loader every ten hrs of use.

I've worked for a Kubota dealer for over 8 years now as the parts & sales manager, some manuals my also say to change your hyd. fluid completely. Not nessecarry until about 250 or next spring. Here is what I reccommend, and pardon me but I have not read all the responses so this may have been said already.

*~Change engine oil & engine oil filter. (Use year round 15/40 or winter weight 10/30) Also change your hydraulic filter (some models have 2 hyd filters a suction & return, the b2920 should only have one) you will probably need a quart of the Kubota UDT fluid to refill what you lose while you change over your hydraulic filter as some may spill. Check that your fuel filter looks good as many fuels get contaminated or dirt/dust may have gotten into the tank during a fill up & made it through to the filter. of course recommended greasing intervals of 8-10 hours. I tell my customers to look and use best judgement. Also always check your outer airfilter this is something that shouldn't be based on "hours" but application, again best judgment & please DO NOT USE A COMPRESSOR TO BLOW THE FILTERS OUT! this tears fibers making them less effective. Then make a habit to check your radiator screen as often as you remember, especially if your doing any brush mowing. Ok! That should set you up for about 200 more hours or through the winter.

- Moreover, some grease joints are subject to more dirt & material than others, no need to waste grease. Also wipe the zerks clean before applying the gun, I see it all the time, zerks get clogged & pressure makes it difficult to release the gun from the fitting. Next I have a customer in handing me 10 broken zerks. It's a cheap part but a pain to tap out & no it's not warranty. forgive me if I missed something or gave more info than you needed, I like to make sure my own customers leave knowing they got their money's worth of information.

I can & I save my customers money, that filter w/ the metal ring, I think it's part #HHTAO-37710, you pay about $20-22.00 for that metal ring @ MSRP IF YOU COMPARE WITH THE PRICE W/O ,teal ring. so when you go to change it, your dealer will automatically sell you the -37710, now most dealers might not even know this & not o e Kubota manual, list, chart or anything will show it crosses to one another. but I've matched so many filters up for people that I've figured out a lot of parts that are the same w/ different #s. SAVE THE MAGNETIC RING & ask your dealer for #HH330-82630 (it could be #HH330-82360? I'm going from memory as I'm at home right now) SAME FILTER NO METAL RING, saves $20+ each change & after 5 or 6 changes you've saved enough to cook hamburgers for all your neighbors & their dogs too.

Is that magnetic ring really needed after the first 50 hours? (break in)
