It works ok except that if you get to a downhill run, it takes off like a dragster. I don't think it's supposed to free wheel like that, but it does.

It's not really free wheeling. Think of it this way....when you set it it adapts to the ground grade at that time. When you start going down hill the weight of the tractor has actually been lessened by the hill even though your settings were for a "heavier" tractor.

I have great experience with my LT1050 with the heaviest grade of Gator blades. No deck clogging, despite sometimes really thick and wet grass. The heavy gator blades are definitely different than others: have a noticeably higher pitched "ping" when the wife mows the rocks. And they hold up well despite that.
