6000 4x4 starter clicking

have a 6000 4x4 with 100 hours on it and starter is clicking. cleaned pos and neg cables moved neg cable to hyd pump and still wants to click. are there problems with these starters or what? i believe this tractor was made in 03 any help greatly appreciated. if nothing else will let dealer fix. just bought end of september. thanks

T-surgin: This may sound sort of weird, but my 6000 would do that until I realized that if a load was on the FEL hydraulics (even if the bucket was off the ground with the joystick in the middle position) it seems that the starter would do that more often. Now I put the joystick in the "float" position till all the pressure is off the bucket (ie. down). Try the starter then... I know it sounds off beat but what can it hurt to try... It worked 100 percent of the time with me. Let us know the outcome and if I have the only 6000 that behaves that way. Bobg in VA

Knock on wood, never had any such problem with my 6000. Usually when starter just clicks and does not turn over it is a battery problem. When it happens try jumping the battery to see if that over comes the problem. Then I think you could reasonably conclude it is the battery. Also try it with your lights on. If lights dim when trying to start, probably the battery. If not, I suppose it has a start solenoid. I would check that next.

Mine ate 2 starters in the first summer. Last one is about 6 mos. old with no problems yet. Welcome to the wonderful world of Mahindra. Anyone heard if they have the starter issues fixed? That new 7010 is looking tempting!

My 6000 is older than yours, no problem with starter. But new models do look good. I see from your bio you do hay work. Check out the hight of the draw bar on the 7010. Near as I can tell, not enough clearence to run over hay rows.
