6310 doesnt pump fuel to filter

Tractor quit running I took fuel hose apart at filter and turned on key no fuel so I suspect it is intank fuel pump. Does any one know of a pump you can install that is not in the tank.

It is an in the tank pump but mounts in conjunction with the fuel sender. I could be mistaken here but I don't believe it is a very difficult procedure to replace, is that why you are looking to go external? You could certainly look to 20 series transfer pump but I believe they had a higher failure rate than the 10 series transfer pump.

Service manager said I should be able to hook up external internal is 200.00 external is 39.00

I am not so sure an external pump will work so efficiently unless you would remove the internal pump. The external pump would have to suck fuel through the internal pump and might have too much resistance. Also, there is a screen on the internal pump that could be clogged. Have you checked to be sure you have power to the internal pump? You could have a blown fuse or broken wire.

Tractor set in field overnight next day I tured on key and fuel pump tured on so I uess it got hot the day before and quit. I will trouble shoot once I get the rest of my hay done. I will see if an external pump will suck fuel trough pump in tank and I will report results.

Should keep running if that pump quits. If you shut the tractor off and restart it and it isn't pumping is when I've had trouble on both our 6410's. Quick fix is a check valve to put in the line to keep the fuel from bleeding off. But, it's not hard to change the in tank pump. Just gotta take the floor mat up and there is an access hole with about 3 screws in it.

I installed exteral pump and it pumps fine through pump in tank. If I Can get by just a little longer almost finished with the last of my hay fields for this year.
