7" angle grinder

My old 7' angle grinder finally died after many years of good service and a replacement is needed. What brand/model/features do you like? I have a 4 1/2 inch one, but need the bigger model. What do you have?

i love the dewalt i purchased, its a beast like the old heavy built Black and Deckers - Dewalt had their own newer design for the lighter units and less expensive ones but these are build on the old B&D patents that were of old and built like tanks - if you need a heavy duty one i purchased a D28499X DEWALT 7-Inch/9-Inch 5.3-Horsepower - i plan for it to last the rest of my life

Harbor Freight makes good disposable 4.5" ones. Much nicer when they fall or get dropped as I dont cry over them & have a handful floating around with various wheels or disks on them.

I have a 9" harbor freight that's ok. But it's ok, but a bit above the disposable price point. I dont use it often as its heavy, but it gets the job done when the small ones dont cut it.

I've got one of the old first generation green HF 7" grinders. It was an impulse purchase from the clearance table, open box but appeared all there and complete. Don't use it often, but it's good to have.
They still offer a 7" model, would be around $35 with a 20% coupon.

I have 3 of the HF 4.5 with different wheels/brushes/disks on them at 9.99 when you catch them on a sale its a no brainer - if you have a big job and will be running for more than a few minutes at a time, the HF will heat up and you will burn them up whether its a 4.5 or 7 - they are descent for the $$ but if you want one to last and on big jobs that you are working them hard, well.........you get my drift, I have h/f stuff and love it for a homeowner standpoint, but when I know better and use logic/common sense you need the right tool for the job its worth it to spend the extra - some things are ok for that and its the old 80/20 rule

7" angle grinder

Soft start or something like that is a nice feature. Most of the name brands seem to have this feature.

Some will auto brake so it doesn’t spin forever after it’s off.

Some of the new ones will allow tool-less guard rotation- a nice feature if you use the guard.

I have a HF 9" grinder and it is a beast. I really lay into it and I am a big guy, and it keeps on grinding. Check out HF.

I have run the old big bodied Sears grinders and they go forever. I now have a newer small bodied Sears and NO, it is not near as tough as them old ones.
