8F & 10F fittings and hoses? Please help.

I am just about done with my log splitter project.
I measured for hoses today and went online to order them.
Surplus center has 1/2" 8F or 10F lines. Can you tell me what the 8 or 10 means?

R16 Hydraulic Hose

Number 8 -1/2 in
Number 10 - 5/8 in

F - female fitting

1/2 in hose with JIC 1/2 in female fittings on both ends
