I have a 2010 John Deere 2320 with a Onramp 54" mid mount mower. I am having problems adjusting the height of the mower. The max cutting height is 3 1/2" when the mower is all the way up in the locked position. When I put the 3pt mechanical lever down on the highest setting on the mower deck height adjustment knob the cutting height drops to 2 1/2". The manual states the cutting height is 1-6", the highest setting I can achieve is 3 1/2". I would like to mow my lawn at 4" and field at 6". What do I need to do to increase the cutting height?

I have the independent lift so I'm not sure how the three point linkage works. However start by locking the deck up and checking the uplimit stop. It should be within 1/8 inch of the frame. If not trace through the lift linkage and find the adjustment to raise the deck. Locked up it should give you the 6 inch cut height.

The uplimit on the mower deck is 2" from the frame. I have traced the linkage back to the hydraulic 3pt. The adjustment is maxed out, if adjusted any further the hydraulic strains. I did switch back to the original JD blades and I gained a 1/2' so mowing heigh is now 4". The yokes on the lifting arms are all the way up too. Still seems like the deck show go another higher.

Something is wrong. You should have enough adjustment to make the uplimit hit the frame. If your adjustments are maxed out, is it possible you have the wrong part on one of the linkages? Since I have the independent lift, I can't say specifically what your system should look like, but maybe someone else who has the 3 point linkage can help.

I have a 2520 and don't know if the lift linkage is exactly the same or not.

I think what Kennyg is referring to when he says adjusting the up limit to the frame is this:

hanger2305.jpg

Start there underneath the tractor. When the deck is in the raised position, that lift arm should be 1/8" below that black pin. In this pic the lift arm is way too low. There are 2 adjustments to be made - one shown in the pic, and the other on the linkage going back to the 3 point hitch. You have to make these adjustments in small increments and find a balance between the 2. Be very careful not to adjust it up too high - if the arm goes hard against that pin you will start bending stuff.

The exact procedure should be in your deck manual - try reading that.

You also might get some more responses in the proper section:

On the 2320 there is no stop for the lift arms as shown on prosperity's picture. The uplimit is a bar on the mower frame (in front of the gearbox) that will hit the frame if it's lifted far enough.

Sorry for the mis-information - I assumed the lift system would be similar.

I have a 2013 2320 and it also has a faulty deck adjustment system. The mower deck is within an 1/8" of the stop, and my highest mower adjustment is about 2-3/4". Deere needs to redesign the cam so that the steps correspond to usable mower height range. The adjustment to the 3 pt hitch doesn't help the adjustment knob at all. If it picks it up high enough so the cam can turn 360 that is enough. Any further shortening of that link will just bend the arm or mash the deck into the stop. My mower arm links are adjusted up all the way and have no adjustment left - in fact the threaded rod would start to hit the clevis pin if they were threaded any further.

After reading blog after blog of people having the same problem for the years the 2320 was made WHY DOESN'T DEERE STEP UP AND REDESIGN CAM ? Instead i keep reading articles of owners taking the tractors to dealers who can fix or adjust out the problem. I know from first hand experience that you cannot call and talk to a engineer or tech person directly at Deere - that is just off limits. You can call the customer service line and get glad handed but that is it -- no real substance there. And when I am told to just use the lift arm control for the height adjustment I really see red (not green) as they are admitting the cam they designed doesn't work but will do nothing about it.

I have always been a JD customer but with support like this one really needs to re-evaluate what brand to buy
