I have a landscaper friend who has 2 "wheel drive" snow blowers and a Toro "auger drive" blower that he swears by. His Toro has big wide rubber scooper paddles that pull the machine through the snow - even up hill. His machine is also light enough for him to lift it in and out of his pickup. I do not want to spend the money for new, but can not find and identical machines available used. I did find a similar 5hp, 22 inch Craftsman that is "auger propelled" but has a metal auger with rubber edges. The rubber auger appeals to me because I do not want to scrape up my paver driveway. Anyone have any advice. Thanks.

Are the augers out front and feed the thrower rotor?

He is talking about a single stage Toro. It has a single auger running crossways that feeds snow in, throws it out and tends to pull the machine forward as it goes.
