I haven't had my tractor very long since febuary had 834 hours when I got it now has 928 been happy so far. Except the other day had some brush hogging to do and flipped on the pto and nothing dash said it was on but it wouldn't turn. I pulled the fuse just to see and it was good after fooling around with the dash switch for a few minutes it came on but seemed to start slower than did before. Worked all day switching on and off brougt it home and parked it overnight then the next day the same thing wouldn't come on until I messed with it a while my first guess was the switch but with it starting slower than it used too I am not sure. It used to jerk and start up the mower a little too rough and now with it starting slow seems better but I am afraid It's going to turn into a bigger problem and with hay season here I really can't afford to be without my tractor. Let me know if you've had this problem before or any opinions are welcome I did crawl underneath and checked all the wires nothing looked bad or loose and it worked great the day before so I don't think this is a loose connection.?
thanks in advance for the help

I'd put a call in to Michigan Iron & Equipment's service dept.,(they're a Kioti dealer), and describe the symptoms from your post and see what direction they steer you in.
Just some other thoughts: have you done the service interval fluid changes/ filters, etc. on your tractor to date?
Sounds like you may have an electrical problem possibly from the switch to the PTO. Can you see if there is 12Volts on both sides of the PTO switch? Make sure if it, PTO engages YOU are nowhere near the shaft, and have the metal cover down to further protect yourself. Once you verify the 12 Volts on both feed to switch and output to PTO when the switch is on, and you can't break the flow of current to either by moving wires then you've done what you can to verify the switch is not faulty. The part that concerns me is the "it used to start the mower rough, and now it's better". Have you tried the PTO engagement without the mower attached? I would want to know the problem is not something attached to the PTO, like the mower that may be making it seem like its actually the PTO when it could be the mower's gearbox empty on fluid.....

Thanks for the reply Coyote machine I do have 12 volts to the switch and I have the same symptoms without the pto hooked up to anything. Now it is working fairly well when I turn on the pto it has a slight delay (about 3-4 seconds) then starts turning but still a little soft on startup I wonder how others start up? I hooked up disc mower today and it turned it just fine just seems a little different on startup. thanks again

I am not positive with the DK 50 tractor but I believe the electronics just activate a hydraulic solenoid at the modulator valve. The hydraulic circuit provides pressure to a clutch in the transmission to power the PTO. You may just have a little air in the circuit or the solenoid could be sticking.

Chech your hydraulic fluid level and condition. Are you having any issues with the 4WD?

Hi - First time here searching for Kioti PTO problems. Yours is close to mine. Did you get this resolved? My bush hog tangled with some 1/2 tires in the grass in the orchard and stopped spinning. Go it home and unhooked and the PTO now just barely engages at all. It spins a little bit very slowly and with no power at all. I'm thinking solenoid because of all I've read, but I'm not even positive where it is or how to check it. I may end up at a dealer, but I wanted to exhaust all options before dropping that kind of $$. I have a DK45.

sound like maybe bad contact on switch?
There may also be a relay involved see if contacts are dirty or bad
not familar w/ electric PTO but if it engages similar to a/c compressor then tolerances are of major importance between clutch, and overtorquing when starting can overheat and warp the clutch. making magnetic engagement hap hazard.

just Ideas
to check

good luck

Thanks EMB5530 - I'm quickly getting in over my head and think it's going to have to go to the dealer. Nearest is about 40mi, so doable. Nice to have this forum. Something tells me this won't be my last question.

Joe I am very sorry to hear of your trouble. I ended up splitting mine 3 ways to replace the clutch pack. The day before I started having trouble I had my little boy riding with me and he was turning the pto off and on while I was mowing probably did it 3 times before I realized what was happening. Everyone I talked too said that wouldn't cause it but guess what it did. The slip clutch's on my old bush hog were rusted together and failed to protect my tractor. Sounds to me like the same has happened to you. I know this isn't what you want to hear.
best of luck

Thanks for everyone's help. It's in the shop and I've snapped the drive shaft. A $700 fix because I didn't take the time each year to back out the bolts and slip the slip clutch on my bush hog. Expensive lesson, but lesson learned.
