Air Cleaner Upgrade?

I'm having a hard time finding a air filter to fit my current can on my Iseki TX11500. I'm thinking it might be easier to just put in some kind of aftermarket K&N air filter or something.

Has anyone on here upgraded their air filter? What's a good upgrade?

I've looked it up at three different filter manufacturer sites already. I can find the filter on all of them, and the filters all cross reference back to each other cleanly. The problem is that everybody's filter is a full inch too long for the can that I am putting it in.

It almost seems like someone already put an aftermarket filter in this tractor before I bought it.

Sorry, I thought the international part of their site might help, not just U.S. filters. Does the canister appear to have been changed? Can you take a metal coffee can or something and add on to your filter holder? May not be room for any alterations, any pics?

I don't know if I would use a K&N type of filter not unless you don't work in dusty conditions, I am not a fan of them but several folks are.

Building one or trying to replace it with maybe a diferent manufacture type of simular shape and size could be an alternative also.

K & N allow more air movement for more horsepower. More air movement normally allows more particles to pass into engine. K & N IMO is for a cleaner enviroment; not tractor conditions.

You might try looking it up by size - most mfg's have a size chart. I have used baldwins http://catalog.baldwinfilter.com/oring.pdf - round air filters start on page 28. Check the housing - see if there is any extra room for height, OD and ID. Take a look at the sealing gasket(s) figure out if there is any wiggle room for a larger or smaller gasket.

If you find something close go to the Product guide to take a look at a picture of the filter, the gaskets, and so on. The gasket specs are on the same sizing chart; it will note the OD, ID and height of the gasket.

A little bit of work but often you can find a close replica.

The primary issues on an air filter are seals (a must), bolt hole or not (if the filter does not have one it is easily drilled). The media can be an issue but it does not commonly affect tractors - as long as it is paper.

I am like wushaw - I am not a fan of K & N. The move more air but on a tractor that is not the big issue - keep the dirt out of the engine.

I did something similar to what milkman suggested on my Mitsubhishi 1450. I got a new/used air cleaner with the filter in it from G-D Equipment in Ephrata, PA for about $50.00. It uses the NAPA 6270 filter and came off a new Kubota engine. It is also the same filter used on my Satoh Buck. 15 and 18 hp respectively. My brother made the brackets and other parts to mount it to my tractor. There should be plenty of junkers around that use a filter that can be bought at NAPA or other places. Just get one big enough.

This is just the advice I was looking for. I actually looked last night, and the filter can is just hose clamped on. I'll have to measure the actual tractor cowling to see what size I can fit in.
